Women's Wrestling Weekly Recap & Review #360

Posted by Dallas Allsopp Monday, December 6, 2021

Welcome to another edition of WOMEN'S WRESTLING WEEKLY—a rundown of the events which have transpired in the world of women's professional wrestling over the past several days not just with the Superstars on WWE programming, but with Impact Wrestling's Knockouts, ROH's Women of Honor, and even a glimpse at the women on the independent circuit.

WWE Monday Night Raw

Becky Lynch, Doudrop, Carmella, Queen Zelina, & Tamina vs Liv Morgan, Nikki A.S.H., Rhea Ripley, Bianca Belair, & Dana Brooke

This match wasn't bad at all, however, it was too clunky at times to be considered great. Most of the women involved worked hard, with Liv Morgan well and truly proving that she deserves her shot at Becky Lynch's Raw Women's Championship next week. The post match shenanigans were fun, adding to the enjoyment level of the contest as a whole.

Winner: Liv Morgan, Nikki A.S.H., Rhea Ripley, Bianca Belair, & Dana Brooke

Rating: 2.5/5

AEW Dark: Elevation

Julia Hart, Skye Blue, Leyla Hirsch, & Ryo Mizunami vs The Bunny, Diamante, Nyla Rose, & Emi Sakura

Quite frankly, this was a poor and disjointed mess. Not a great way to kick off the show at all.

Winner: The Bunny, Diamante, Nyla Rose, & Emi Sakura

Rating: 1.5/5

Tay Conti & Anna Jay vs Alice Crowley & Missa Kate

Squash City!

Winner: Tay Conti & Anna Jay

Rating: 2/5

WWE NXT 2.0

Dakota Kai vs Kay Lee Ray

I expected a solid match here, but these two women blew my expecations out of the water. Not only did the faces secure the advantage, but Dakota Kai proved why she is perhaps the best woman in NXT's women's division from the initial era of the brand, bar Io Shirai. Kay Lee Ray can perform well, but more often than not, she has failed to be consistent. At least here, both women fought hard and put on a stunning ladder match.

Winner: Kay Lee Ray

Rating: 4/5

Indi Hartwell & Persia Pirotta vs Yulisa Leon & Valentina Feroz

Squash City!

Winner: Indi Hartwell & Persia Pirotta

Rating: 2/5

AEW Dark

Kilynn King vs Renee Michelle

Squash City!

Winner: Kilynn King

Rating: 2/5

Skye Blue vs La Rosa Negra

Squash City!

Winner: Skye Blue

Rating: 2/5

Ryo Mizunami vs Dani Jordyn

Squash City!

Winner: Ryo Mizunami

Rating: 2/5

Nikita Knight vs Julia Hart

Squash City!

Winner: Julia Hart

Rating: 2/5

Leyla Hirsch vs Sahara Seven

Squash City!

Winner: Leyla Hirsch

Rating: 2/5

AEW Wednesday Night Dynamite

Kris Statlander vs Ruby Soho

These two worked hard to put on a better Dynamite match than the women's division has been treated to recently. Not only did they put on a strong match, but the finish protected both wrestlers. Overall, this was an entertaining contribution to a great episode of Dynamite.

Winner: Ruby Soho

Rating: 3/5

Impact Wrestling

Savannah Evans vs Rachael Ellering

Not quite a squash victory for Rachael Ellering, but she did look great in victory.

Winner: Rachael Ellering

Rating: 2.5/5

WWE NXT UK

Meiko Satomura vs Xia Brookside

Although Xia Brookside put in a hell of a shift here, no-one bought into her defeating Meiko Satomura for the NXT UK Women's Championship. The match was good, but the lack of drama prevented it from becoming great.

Winner: Meiko Satomura

Rating: 3/5

WWE Friday Night SmackDown

Sasha Banks vs Shayna Baszler

I wanted to enjoy this match. I really did, but there were too many awkward spots to create a cohesive and compelling contest.

Winner: Sasha Banks

Rating: 2/5

AEW Rampage

Jade Cargill vs Janai Kai

Squash City!

Winner: Jade Cargill

Rating: 2/5

WWE NXT TakeOver: WarGames

Team Raquel Gonzalez vs Team Toxic Attraction

I was genuinely disappointed with this contest. I expected a few botches and blips, but it was a tortorous experience.

Winner: Team Raquel Gonzalez

Rating: 2/5

MATCH OF THE WEEK:

Dakota Kai vs Kay Lee Ray

A simply fantastic ladder match.

WOMAN OF THE WEEK:

Jade Cargill

Not only is Jade Cargill a squash queen, but she is also working fans on Twitter to gain serious heel heat. I like that, especially as it could become a real storyline for AEW.
