WWE Survivor Series Statistics, Records and Match History

This WWE Survivor Series statistics and records archive covers Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Matches, sole survivors, career eliminations, appearances, win-loss records, year-by-year match history, Raw vs SmackDown vs NXT brand warfare, the 2025 traditional-match revivals and Survivor Series WarGames records and winners.

Last updated: August 2026.

Research and compilation credit: These statistics, calculations, classifications and historical notes were researched, compiled and maintained by Anthony Mango for Smark Out Moment. Reuse should include clear attribution and a link to this page.

Methodology: The core traditional-match records cover the 89 matches held on official Survivor Series event programming from 1987 through 2021, including recognized pre-show matches. Career records merge verified identities across ring names, including Nicky with Dolph Ziggler and Mabel with King Mabel, Viscera and Big Daddy V. Linked tag-team removals count as participant removals but do not create extra elimination credits. The 2025 television revivals and Survivor Series WarGames matches are tracked separately.

🎫 Survivor Series Attendance, Gate and PPV Buy Records

Attendance and business figures use WWE-announced totals and published industry reporting. Traditional pay-per-view purchases and modern streaming viewership are different measurements and should not be compared as if they were the same metric.

Business-data note: Historical pay-per-view purchase totals are reported estimates and can vary by source; approximately 478,000 is the commonly cited Survivor Series peak. WWE Network, Peacock and Netflix-era audience figures are streaming/viewership measurements rather than traditional PPV buys, so they are not compared directly with PPV purchases.

🛠️ Traditional Survivor Series Match Format and History

Year / EraFormat Development
1987The inaugural Survivor Series card was built around elimination matches: three 5-on-5 matches and one 10-on-10 tag-team-unit match.
1989The event largely shifted from five-person teams to four-person teams.
1990Survivors from the earlier matches advanced to the Grand Finale Match of Survival. Hulk Hogan and Ultimate Warrior were the final survivors.
1992The card contained only one traditional elimination match, built around tag teams.
1996Four recognized traditional matches were held when the Free for All pre-show is included. One later match ended in a no contest after all remaining wrestlers were disqualified, producing no survivors.
1998No traditional Survivor Series elimination match was held.
2001The format returned to a major-event main event with Team WWE vs The Alliance in a 5-on-5 Winner Take All match.
2002No traditional Survivor Series elimination match was held; the first Elimination Chamber headlined instead.
2005Raw vs SmackDown became the central traditional-match concept for the first time.
2016-2021Raw vs SmackDown brand warfare became the annual default, with men's and women's matches and occasional tag-team versions.
2019NXT joined Raw and SmackDown, creating the first three-team traditional elimination matches for both men and women.
