King of the Ring is one of WWE's oldest traditions that has gone through many different variations since its inception in 1985, including even expanding into the women's division to now be classified the King & Queen of the Ring tournament.

It has gone from being one of the five main pay-per-views for many years throughout the World Wrestling Federation to even spending many years on the shelf, before being resurrected every so often in the modern era to crown a new king and queen.
