PREDICTED MATCHES (as of 7/8/2020)

AEW World Championship Match: Jon Moxley (c) vs. Brian Cage

Had the Double or Nothing chip turned out to be more of a Money in the Bank style "cash in at any time" gimmick, I think Cage would have used his title shot for a situation where he'd win the title. Here, I just can't imagine that will be the case. It seems a bit early to have Moxley drop the belt, right? With that being said, it seems like a missed opportunity to have Cage lose so early and have nowhere to go but down. I hope they have a plan here other than hoping it'll all work out in the end and aren't just rushing toward something that will have less payoff in the long run than just being patient and booking this match later.

Update: Pending new thoughts coming soon (7/9) following Fyter Fest.

PREDICTION: Jon Moxley retains.

AEW TNT Championship Match: Cody (c) vs. Sonny Kiss

So at Fyter Fest, Sonny Kiss was ringside for Joey Janela's match with Lance Archer and got thrown around by The Murderhawk Monster. Somehow, that translates to him being the No. 1 contender for the TNT Championship? Huh?

Had Cody come out to help and had some sort of interaction with Kiss, that would have made more sense.

But hey, whatever. Cody's going to retain no matter what, this should be Kiss's best match so far (and could be a lot of fun) and at least they're starting to use Kiss for something.

PREDICTION: Cody retains.

FTR vs. The Lucha Bros

I know a lot of people are going crazy over this as some sort of dream match. I do think it will be good, but I don't think this is going to be MOTY quality. I'm expecting it to go a little longer than what I'd prefer and for FTR to get the win to balance out the Fyter Fest lost.

PREDICTION: FTR wins.

The Elite vs. Jurassic Express

So why is this happening, other than "don't you want to see it?" That's an issue with AEW that hasn't changed in a year and a half.

But just like some of the other things, it has potential. Both teams are talented. They could likely work very well together. I'm excited to see it, even if there's no substance behind it.

PREDICTION: The Elite wins.
