WWE SMACKDOWN RESULTS: January 16, 2026
- Promo: Drew McIntyre's gloating was cut off by Randy Orton, who teased that he'll win the Royal Rumble title shot. Jacob Fatu attacked McIntyre and that provided a distraction for The Miz to attack Orton from behind, but Orton beat The Miz in their qualifying match after. Throughout the night, everyone did the "I'm going to beat Drew" and Drew did the "No you aren't" responses, so they aren't worth talking about.
- Charlotte Flair clarified to Alexa Bliss that she was really sick last week and they're back on the same page, even though Lash Legend and Nia Jax keep trying to make them turn on each other.
- Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair beat Giulia and Kiana James by pinfall. After the match, Jax and Legend attacked Bliss and Flair. This set up a Triple Threat match next week between those teams to determine who gets a future women's tag title opportunity.
- Cody Rhodes announced he'll be in the Royal Rumble.
- Trick Williams defeated Matt Cardona by pinfall to qualify for the Saturday Night's Main Event No. 1 Contender's Fatal 4-Way along with Orton.
- Kit Wilson jumped Cardona after the match. Wilson was then taken out by Fatu, who called out Rhodes. Their brawl was immediately switched to one of the many commercial breaks, which was weird, all for them to announce Rhodes vs. Fatu at SNME.
- Damian Priest beat Solo Sikoa to qualify. The Wyatt Sicks interfered and almost got the lantern back, but the MFTs managed to steal it again. That tag team title match takes place next week.
- Carmelo Hayes retained the Men's United States Championship in an open challenge over TNA's X Division Champion Leon Slater by pinfall.
- Backstage, since Johnny Gargano doesn't want to give Axiom back his mask, Nathan Frazer (in an Axiom mask) punched him out and told him he's fighting Gargano in a match next week on SmackDown.
- Jordynne Grace beat Chelsea Green by pinfall. Following that, Grace called out Jade Cargill, who was then accidentally struck by Green (who was trying to hit Grace).
- Sami Zayn defeated Ilja Dragunov for the final qualifying spot and was then attacked by Trick to end the show.
