WWE Survivor Series 2024 Spoilers |
World Heavyweight Championship Match: Gunther (c) vs. Damian Priest
It
took them a while to come back to this, and I'm surprised they did. There are a few other contenders lined up for Gunther that could have fit this bill under other scenarios, such as Seth Rollins, CM Punk (after beating Drew McIntyre at Bad Blood), Goldberg eventually, Bron Breakker eventually, etc. But I guess for now, this will be on the undercard, it'll serve its purpose, Priest will come up short, and Gunther will move on while Priest will...I don't know, actually what he'll do, past just competing in the Royal Rumble. I feel like he might be fighting Breakker for the intercontinental title come WrestleMania.
Men's WarGames Match: Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, Sami Zayn & CM Punk vs. Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa & Bronson Reed
This would be so much better if it were just 4-on-4. I don't know why they threw in Bronson Reed, let alone why he's there opposite CM Punk of all people. I didn't like the idea of Seth Rollins in it, but at least he made sense to be against Reed. If the whole thing was just to have CM Punk, and not for it to be Reed/Rollins, then why is Reed there instead of someone else, like how they've been sitting on Hikuleo forever?
They should have just done 4-on-4. I'm convinced of it. Nevertheless, the lineup of these guys shows that this has a good chance of being a great match. There's going to be a lull in there when Tonga Loa comes in and when everyone is waiting for the big guns, but by the time it's 5-on-5, people will have fun.
PREDICTION: If The Rock shows up, Sikoa's team wins. If not, I think Roman's team wins.
Women's WarGames Match: Rhea Ripley, Bianca Belair, Iyo Sky, Jade Cargill, & Naomi vs. Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez, Nia Jax, Tiffany Stratton & Candice LeRae
Well, they didn't need to do this match, and they certainly didn't bother really setting up the two teams more than just throwing five of the most prominent heels and babyfaces together, but whatever. In what is typically the case, as we can so often say, "the match will be solid regardless of the build."
Since there are no stakes, I think we're just going to see Rhea Ripley's team win. Then, maybe, they can use that as a means to justify giving her one more title shot so she can beat Liv Morgan for the belt and move on.
Update: It seems Jade Cargill is getting pulled from this match. I'm assuming Bayley will replace her, but that hasn't been announced.
PREDICTION: Rhea Ripley's team wins.
Triple Threat for the Intercontinental Championship: Bron Breakker (c) vs. Ludwig Kaiser vs. Sheamus
This has been a slow burn of a feud—or, more so, it's been stretched out for a long while without being too much at the forefront to be annoying—and it's worth having a Triple Threat to settle all the scores in one shot. I'm sure it's going to get swallowed up on this card, but it'll be a fun match. Breakker shouldn't drop the title unless there are other plans for him for WrestleMania like fighting Gunther, but I'm not only assuming that's not going to happen, but I'll back it up and say it shouldn't happen right now, either. Let Breakker have a good run with this title, defend it at Mania, drop it at some point post-Mania in 2025, and work his way up to a main event title shot more so for 2026.
United States Championship Match: LA Knight (c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
Nakamura is off-screen from April until mid-November, shows up, attacks Knight, and 2 episodes later, he's got a title shot. You can't say they really tried super hard, but I guess we can just bypass that. I don't know about the chemistry these two will have, as I can't remember them having any matches together (or if they did, they must not have been memorable one way or another). Hopefully, the match is good, but I think it's shaping up to be the least impactful of this card, for sure.
This page will be altered on a regular basis to reflect changes to the show including any new matches added to the lineup, adjustments to the card, revised predictions and any other information about this event. Stay tuned for the latest updates!
