The WWE NXT North American Championship has changed hands as Carmelo Hayes defeated Isaiah "Swerve" Scott to win the title on the October 12, 2021 edition of NXT.
My immediate reaction: It was inevitable the moment Scott was drafted to SmackDown that he had to drop the title. Santos Escobar is great, and I was fully on board with him as the next champion, but I'll admit that this Money in the Bank style title opportunity with Hayes was a great way of doing it. They subverted expectations and went with a surprise cash-in. Great!
