WWE Hell in a Cell 2021 Spoilers

WWE Championship Hell in a Cell Match: Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Drew McIntyre

This was the natural progression of things. While the feud isn't anywhere near hot enough to justify a Hell in a Cell match if this were back in the gimmick's inception, it's justified in the modern incarnation where so many of them are just the first match between some people.

I'd expect Lashley to retain the title. There's a chance they do go with McIntyre going forward again, but it's not a large chance. Surely, if he were going to win it, they'd have had it happen in front of a crowd at WrestleMania or they'd wait and do it at Money in the Bank, right?

PREDICTION: Bobby Lashley retains.

Raw Women's Championship Match: Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Charlotte Flair

I figured this was a certainty. The only question was whether or not Asuka would still be in the mix, but I didn't think that would be the case. Now that it's official, I'm officially nervous for Rhea Ripley's title reign. There is a very, very good chance WWE just says "good enough" with her run and gives the belt to Flair. I don't want that to happen under any circumstances. I think Ripley absolutely must retain, clean, to help offset some of the damage done to her from last year's WrestleMania loss. Beating Asuka instead of Flair at the last event wasn't good enough. She needs to straight-up beat Charlotte and more than once.

PREDICTION: Rhea Ripley retains the title.

SmackDown Women's Championship Hell in a Cell Match: Bianca Belair (c) vs. Bayley

They did it already several times. The only reason it's happening again is because they have less people on the roster now and they don't want to put the effort into creating a new storyline. So WWE did what it's been doing far, far too often these days: "screw it, let's just rinse and repeat, because all that REALLY matters is that we'll have fans at Money in the Bank."

At least TWO DAYS BEFORE THE EVENT, they decided to make it a Hell in a Cell match. That's not making up for the other mistakes, but it's the bare minimum they could have done to spice things up.

PREDICTION: Bianca Belair retains the title.

Universal Championship Hell in a Cell Match: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Rey Mysterio

Why? And why is this inside the cage? Do you remember when Hell in a Cell only happened when a feud was so hot and had exhausted itself that this was the way to end something, rather than just a random match for the pure sake of doing "something"?

Awful on all fronts. This was seriously the best idea they could think of? Reigns beats up Dominik so the tag team champions ignore their belts and Rey gets squashed by The Tribal Chief inside the cell when it isn't remotely justified to jump straight to that level?

Pass.

Update: This is happening on SmackDown instead. I don't know why. I don't know what they're doing instead. This whole card is just insane.

PREDICTION: Roman Reigns retains the title.

Alexa Bliss vs. Shayna Baszler

Raise your hand if you think this is a good idea, has been a good feud and will be worth investing your time in watching this segment on this pay-per-view.

PREDICTION: Alexa Bliss wins.

Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn

Remember when they had their "last match ever" and then had about 10 more? Look. They're great. They're two of my favorites on the roster and we know they'll have a good match. But maybe WWE can at least try to put the bare minimum of effort into things?

Why is this not inside Hell in a Cell, for instance?

PREDICTION: Kevin Owens wins.

Cesaro vs. Seth Rollins

This match would have made more sense inside Hell in a Cell, too. I don't know how they booked this event the way they did. But hey, at least this will be a good match, right? Again...that's not okay to just make that excuse for WWE and say "good enough is good enough" but it's just a means to try to look at the part of this that is positive.

PREDICTION: Cesaro wins.

+ more matches to be announced
