WWE Power Rankings Top 10 Superstars This Week: #324 - NXT Goes To War

Posted by Callum Wiggins Saturday, December 12, 2020

Welcome to another edition of POWER RANKINGS from Smark Out Moment! Each week, we will break down the current roster and examine who has gone up the WWE hierarchy and who has unfortunately taken a step down the ladder. Factoring in things such as wins and losses, suspensions, injuries, making a name for one's self, being humiliated, and more, who is at the top of the food chain and who needs to make up some ground next week?

Here is the key code for the rankings shorthand when referencing their position in relation to the previous week:

NR = Not included in last week's rankings at all

+ Green = the number of moves up in the rankings compared to last week

- Red = the number of moves down in the rankings compared to last week

Honorable Mentions = five superstars who just barely missed the cut

Power Ranking WWE wrestlers list roster

10. Tommaso Ciampa [NR]

A strong showing this week by one of NXT's most prolific veterans. Tommaso Ciampa earned a hard-fought victory over Timothy Thatcher at TakeOver: WarGames, and followed that up by defeating Cameron Grimes on Wednesday night.

9. Drew McIntyre [-3]

In a 3-on-2 Handicap Match, miscommunication between Drew McIntyre and Sheamus led to their loss to AJ Styles, The Miz & John Morrison on Raw, which then led to the Celts battling each other backstage.

8. Sasha Banks [-3]

In an unexpected SmackDown Women's Championship match on SmackDown, Sasha Banks' temper led to her being disqualified against Carmella, meaning she only kept her title on a technicality.

7. Johnny Gargano [NR]

The only title match on NXT TakeOver: WarGames led to a new champion being crowned, as Johnny Gargano overcame both Leon Ruff and Damian Priest to reclaim the North American Championship, thanks to an assist by Austin Theory.

6. Dakota Kai & Raquel Gonzalez [NR]

In a potentially star-making performance at TakeOver: WarGames, Raquel Gonzalez pinned NXT Women's Champion Io Shirai to secure victory for her team, alongside Dakota Kai, Candice LeRae & Toni Storm. Then she earned another win in Wednesday's main event, defeating Ember Moon.

5. Undisputed Era [NR]

In Sunday's other WarGames match, The Undisputed Era's combined efforts were too much for The Kings of NXT to handle. In the show's main event, Kyle O'Reilly pinned Oney Lorcan to score the win for NXT's premier faction.

4. Roman Reigns [-2]

While he never stepped into a ring on SmackDown this week, Roman Reigns did send a powerful message to Kevin Owens and his family on Friday night, beating the holy hell out of his next challenger in the backstage area.

3. The Hurt Business [+1]

It was a 2-1 equation for The Hurt Business on Raw this week. A bad start of Shelton Benjamin losing to Kofi Kingston was quickly equalized by Cedric Alexander pinning the former WWE Champion in a match directly afterwards. Later in the show, Bobby Lashley forced Jeff Hardy to tap out.

2. AJ Styles [+1]

AJ Styles continues to gather momentum in his pursuit of a third WWE Championship reign. He teamed with The Miz & John Morrison to claim a win over Drew McIntyre & Sheamus in a 3-on-2 Handicap Match.

1. Asuka [No Change]

While there's no challenger in sight for her own Raw Women's Championship, Asuka has her focus on the Women's Tag Team Championships. With Lana's help at ringside, Asuka defeated Shayna Baszler on Monday night.

HONORABLE MENTIONS

Candice LeRae - Despite leaving the match with a broken arm, Captain Candice LeRae led her team to victory inside WarGames on Sunday night.

Dexter Lumis - In a better than anticipated Strap Match, Dexter Lumis forced Cameron Grimes to tap out to earn his first TakeOver victory.

Grizzled Young Veterans - Grizzled Young Veterans helped their status in NXT's tag team division by winning a Triple Threat over Imperium and Ever-Rise.

The Riott Squad - A win for The Riott Squad over Billie Kay & Natalya keeps them seeking another opportunity at the Women's Tag Team Championships.

Cesaro & Shinsuke Nakamura - The former SmackDown Tag Team Champions got back to winning ways on Friday by beating Otis & Chad Gable.

The Power Rankings Table (since WrestleMania 36)
