WWE Draft 2020 Results of Trades Between Raw & SmackDown Rosters

Posted by Anthony Mango Monday, October 5, 2020

The 2020 WWE DRAFT is set to take place over two nights, starting October 9th on SmackDown and carrying over into the following Monday Night Raw on October 12th. Every Superstar from all rosters is eligible to be traded, including the champions.

Stay tuned to this post, which will be updated continuously throughout both nights to fill you in on all the trades in one convenient location. Make sure to keep refreshing for updates!

PREDICTIONS

Before the actual draft takes place later this week, I figured I would toss out some predictions of things I can imagine will happen, as well as some ideas of trades I'd like to see.

  • AJ Styles, Sheamus and King Corbin would make sense to go over to Raw to feud with Drew McIntyre. Plus, they have no upward mobility if Roman Reigns will stay the top guy for months and if Bray Wyatt stays there. I considered the idea of Wyatt moving over to Raw, but I think Kevin Owens going over to SmackDown makes more sense. Plus, I think Wyatt vs Hardy is a given at some point and I don't think Jeff's moving to Raw. Then again, if Jeff does, maybe he gets balanced out on SmackDown with Rey and Dominik Mysterio or something?
  • Let's kick Seth Rollins and Randy Orton over to SmackDown to compensate for that, as they've already feuded with McIntyre. I'd like to just keep Rollins away from Mysterio, though.
  • Rhea Ripley needs to go to Raw or SmackDown.
  • Chelsea Green is getting called up, right?
  • Can we put Bo Dallas in NXT, please?
  • I think WWE is going to mess up the balance between the tag teams. I'm expecting one of the 2 rosters to have NO teams, basically.
  • If they're not going to just release Lars Sullivan, maybe he'd be a good fit for Raw Underground.
  • I wouldn't be mad at all if Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae went to SmackDown. I think that would be a good fit for them.

NIGHT 1 MAIN DRAFT RESULTS

Round 1:

RAW DRAFTS: Drew McIntyre

- He's the main champion on Raw. That makes sense.

SMACKDOWN DRAFTS: Roman Reigns

- Again. You can't have two world titles on the same show and I'm sure they wanted to keep Reigns on Fox.

RAW DRAFTS: Asuka

- Raw women's champion. No-brainer.

SMACKDOWN DRAFTS: Seth Rollins

- Here's hoping he is far away from the Mysterio family!

RAW DRAFTS: The Hurt Business (MVP, Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander)

- I actually thought there was a chance the United States and Intercontinental Championships would change brands. Then again, that could still happen if someone from SmackDown challenges Lashley soon enough.

Round 2:

RAW DRAFTS: AJ Styles

- Good pick. He can feud with Drew McIntyre.

SMACKDOWN DRAFTS: Sasha Banks

- Now give her the belt tonight and send Bayley over to Raw.

RAW DRAFTS: Naomi

- Hm...Jimmy Uso eventually going over there with Jey Uso, too? Or just splitting up the married couple and/or the tag team?

SMACKDOWN DRAFTS: Bianca Belair

- Wow. Curious if that means The Street Profits drop the tag titles or if they're just splitting up Belair and Montez Ford.

RAW DRAFTS: Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler

- I figured they'd stay there.

Note: Lars Sullivan then appeared after this and attacked Matt Riddle, Jeff Hardy, The Miz and John Morrison. It wasn't an official draft pick, as he wasn't even listed on the pools, but it seems Sullivan is now on the SmackDown roster once more.

UPDATE: Stephanie McMahon then clarified that Sullivan will be added to the Monday night pool.

Round 3:

RAW DRAFTS: Ricochet

- This is a pick that we can't know will be good or not until after the rest of the field settles.

SMACKDOWN DRAFTS: Jey Uso

- There you go. Either The Usos are being split or Naomi and Jimmy Uso.

RAW DRAFTS: Mandy Rose

- Shouldn't have done this in advance.

SMACKDOWN DRAFTS: Dominik and Rey Mysterio

- Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck they're on the same brand as Seth Rollins.

RAW DRAFTS: The Miz and John Morrison

- Two more opponents for Drew McIntyre. Possibly a new team to fight The Street Profits.

Round 4:

RAW DRAFTS: Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods

- So the SmackDown tag titles are on Raw now? How does that make any sense?

SMACKDOWN DRAFTS: Big E

- WWE couldn't help itself with this idea of splitting The New Day. Not a fan.

RAW DRAFTS: Dana Brooke

- Why did they do this trade ahead of time, again?

SMACKDOWN DRAFTS: Otis

- Not with Tucker? They're supposed to be drafted together, too.

RAW DRAFTS: Angel Garza

- We'll see how the midcard division works out and comment on this another time.

NIGHT 1 SUPPLEMENTAL PICKS

There were several superstars from the first night's pool who weren't chosen on the SmackDown broadcast. Instead, they were relegated to Talking Smack. Here are those picks:

RAW DRAFTS: Humberto Carrillo

- Look out for him to continue to wrestle on Main Event.

SMACKDOWN DRAFTS: Murphy

- Ugh. The Aalyah stuff will certainly continue.

RAW DRAFTS: Tucker

- So they've split up Heavy Machinery. I'm sure that's going to be GREAT for Tucker. For that matter, Otis is going to suffer, too, because he is better when he has Tucker as his straight man to offset him.

SMACKDOWN DRAFTS: Kalisto

- So they've also potentially split Lucha House Party, as Lince Dorado and Gran Metalik weren't chosen. They could go to SmackDown with Kalisto, of course, but they could also stick together and go to Raw, or they could all stay on the same roster and still split, or Dorado/Metalik can split and be on opposite brands AND not tag with Kalisto. Far too many variables.

RAW DRAFTS: Drew Gulak

- I guess he's going to be still clawing for the 24/7 title going forward.

Here are the wrestlers from this pool who have yet to be assigned a roster:

Elias
Lucha House Party (Gran Metalik and Lince Dorado) (update: they were drafted prior to Raw)
Mickie James
Shorty G (update: he was drafted randomly on Monday)

BONUS SUPPLEMENTAL PICK AT RANDOM

Out of nowhere 2 hours before Monday Night Raw on 10/12, WWE decided to announce another pick:

SMACKDOWN DRAFTS: Shorty G

- I get it, that WWE wants to engage all the different facets of their brand, but it's SO frustrating to have to follow a bunch of Twitter accounts, YouTube and like 20 hours of footage a week to keep up with this company that doesn't even properly update its own website on a timely basis. You're finding out this information quicker on Smark Out Moment than it's being posted on WWE's site, for instance. That shouldn't be the case. Anyway, Shorty G staying where he is doesn't mean much of anything except that he won't be getting his chance to play around in Raw Underground, which is a shame.

Then, 10 minutes before Raw started, on the WWE Watch Along, another pick was announced:

RAW DRAFTS: Gran Metalik and Lince Dorado

- So there you go, another tag team is split, in some ways. Metalik and Dorado will likely still team together, so it's not a full split, but Kalisto's by himself.

NIGHT 2 MAIN DRAFT RESULTS

Check back during Monday Night Raw for the next set of draft picks featuring the following superstars from the night's pool:

Round 1:

RAW DRAFTS: Bray Wyatt

- How much longer before Alexa goes with him? Not sure I like this idea. It will depend on where some other people end up.

SMACKDOWN DRAFTS: Bayley

- This was a necessity, even though I would have been fine with Bayley and Sasha Banks on opposite brands.

RAW DRAFTS: Randy Orton

- Very disappointed in this. I wanted him to go to SmackDown so he and Edge could feud over there, giving Edge the option to feud with Rollins and Reigns. I don't think there are options for Orton to feud with on Raw anymore, really, and I don't think he should win the WWE Championship.

SMACKDOWN DRAFTS: The Street Profits

- Can we please clarify how these tag titles are going to work?

RAW DRAFTS: Charlotte Flair

- Eh.

Round 2:

RAW DRAFTS: Braun Strowman

- Bringing him onto Raw the past few weeks kind of spoiled this pick, didn't it?

SMACKDOWN DRAFTS: Daniel Bryan

- Good. Roman Reigns gets a solid person to feud with.

RAW DRAFTS: Matt Riddle

- Hm...could be good, could be awful.

SMACKDOWN DRAFTS: Kevin Owens

- At least Reigns has another person for another feud. I like this pick.

RAW DRAFTS: Jeff Hardy

- Well, there goes another Reigns feud, but at least it allows Wyatt to feud with Hardy.

Round 3:

RAW DRAFTS: RETRIBUTION (Mustafa Ali, Mace, Reckoning, Slapjack, T-Bar)

- No Mercedes Martinez. It's official.

SMACKDOWN DRAFTS: Lars Sullivan

- Why do you have him on the same brand as Roman Reigns where there are no babyfaces for him to fight? This makes no sense.

RAW DRAFTS: Keith Lee

- There are far too many babyfaces on Raw! What the hell are they doing?!

SMACKDOWN DRAFTS: King Corbin

- And there are too many heels on SmackDown!!!! Who is he supposed to fight with?

RAW DRAFTS: Alexa Bliss

- Saw that coming.

Round 4:

RAW DRAFTS: Elias

- We'll see, but at least he's a heel. That's a good change of pace for him.

SMACKDOWN DRAFTS: Sami Zayn

- It took this long to draft a champion?

RAW DRAFTS: Lacey Evans

- This all depends on how the rest of the rosters play out.

SMACKDOWN DRAFTS: Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura

- Look out for that elongated feud with The Street Profits.

RAW DRAFTS: Sheamus

- A feud with McIntyre is a must, and he could be a good fit for Raw Underground.

Round 5:

RAW DRAFTS: Nikki Cross

- Thank GOD she isn't still on the same brand as Bayley.

SMACKDOWN DRAFTS: Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode

- More heels on SmackDown.

RAW DRAFTS: R-Truth

- This was a guarantee. The 24/7 title is a USA thing.

SMACKDOWN DRAFTS: Apollo Crews

- So Crews goes to Raw a few months ago just to go back. At least the blue brand has another babyface, even though I think Ricochet would have been a better choice.

RAW DRAFTS: Dabba-Kato

- He's a Raw Underground guy. That makes sense.

Round 6:

RAW DRAFTS: Titus O'Neil

- Really? They didn't save him for the supplemental picks?

SMACKDOWN DRAFTS: Carmella

- This pretty much needed to happen, since the blue brand has only 3 women.

RAW DRAFTS: Peyton Royce

- SmackDown's women's division has 4 people at this point. Come on.

SMACKDOWN DRAFTS: Aleister Black

- Another heel for Roman Reigns to not fight.

RAW DRAFTS: Akira Tozawa

- Gotta keep the 24/7 title hunt going, I guess. Maybe he'll find something to do on Raw Underground, though.

NIGHT 2 SUPPLEMENTAL PICKS FROM RAW TALK

RAW DRAFTS: Lana

- There are SO MANY WOMEN on Raw and NOBODY on SmackDown. JEEZ.

SMACKDOWN DRAFTS: Natalya

- I'm surprised she didn't go to Raw with how things are playing out.

RAW DRAFTS: Riddick Moss

- He's a Raw Underground guy. Saw that coming.

SMACKDOWN DRAFTS: The Riott Squad (Liv Morgan and Ruby Riott)

- This was necessary.

RAW DRAFTS: Arturo Ruas

- Another Raw Underground guy.

NIGHT 2 SUPPLEMENTAL PICKS FROM WWE'S TWITTER

RAW DRAFTS: Erik

- Ivar's on the inactive list. Don't be surprised when he eventually pops up wherever Erik is no matter what. Erik's been on Raw Underground, so this isn't shocking to me.

SMACKDOWN DRAFTS: Zelina Vega

- Aleister Black is here, so this makes sense. It's good to keep married couples together, SmackDown can use another viable wrestler in the women's division, and maybe this is a further push toward putting Andrade on SmackDown where he'd be better off.

SMACKDOWN DRAFTS: Tamina Snuka

- Doesn't matter. She spends most of her time inactive.

SMACKDOWN DRAFTS: Billie Kay

- There's the official IIconics split. We know they want to push Royce, so here's hoping Kay doesn't get completely lost in the shuffle.
