THE BUY IN

"The Buy-In" is All Elite Wrestling's answer to WWE's kickoff, in that it is a pre-show that is free on YouTube and elsewhere before the official card begins at 8:30pm EST. The Buy In starts at 7:30pm EST.

Loving the touch of having the random models and referencing the "take one for the team" thing.

Three-Way Tag Team Match: Best Friends (Chuck Taylor and Trent Beretta) vs. SoCal Uncensored (Scorpio Sky and Frankie Kazarian) vs. Private Party (Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen)

RESULT: Best Friends win by pinfall
THOUGHTS: Good opening contest. I enjoyed it. No reason not to, right? I'm surprised Best Friends won, to be honest, but I'm cool with all 3 of these teams after this match, so yay.

Following the match, The Dark Order came onto the screen to say they've chosen Best Friends as their "first" and to play some mind games by turning the lights off, popping up around the ring, and then disappearing when the lights went back off/on again.

The Young Bucks say that everything is going to hell, just like the Fyre Festival documentary. They're bleeding money. The tents they got are the real ones from Fyre Festival. They've got the cheese sandwiches instead of the organic food. Kenny Omega says he has them covered with some new gear, but he's blown half the budget, so they get rid of 2 of the 4 models who were standing on the stage and replace them with mannequins.

The Librarians (Leva Bates and Peter Avalon) come out to shush everyone and say they'd be better off with books instead of being gamers. Allie interrupts. It looks like she's replacing Kylie Rae. Yup.

Allie vs. Leva Bates

RESULT: Allie wins by pinfall
THOUGHTS: Underwhelming, compared to the previous match. Didn't really dig this.

Hardcore Match: Alex Jebailey vs. Michael Nakazawa

RESULT: Michael Nakazawa wins by pinfall
THOUGHTS: Maybe not the best idea to do two jokey gimmick things in a row. This was bad. Like, real bad.

MAIN CARD

Christopher Daniels vs. Cima

RESULT: CIMA wins by pinfall
THOUGHTS: To be honest, I could barely watch the match, as I was doing too much live coverage for 3 sites at the same time, but what I did see just felt pretty generic to me and nothing special.

Three-Way Match: Yuka Sakazaki vs. Riho vs. Nyla Rose

RESULT: Riho wins by pinfall over Nyla Rose
THOUGHTS: ...this wasn't good, and I don't get why people were going nuts about it chanting "this is awesome" with so many botches happening.

Nyla Rose attacked Riho after the match. Yuka helped take Rose out of the ring with a double team. But Riho wasn't having the friendship side of things.

Four-Way Match: "Hangman" Adam Page vs. Jimmy Havoc vs. Jungle Boy vs. MJF

RESULT: Adam Page wins by pinfall over Jimmy Havoc
THOUGHTS: Good match, and I'm glad they had MJF get tossed to the outside for Havoc to take the pin, rather than blow the Page/MJF thing this early.

Cody vs. Darby Allin

RESULT: Time limit draw.
THOUGHTS: Good ending to a good match that I don't think I'll remember anything of by the end of the night, if I'm honest.

Post-match, Shawn Spears comes into the ring and hits Cody with a steel chair in the head. Brandi, MJF and SCU then check on Cody.

Six-Man Tag Team Match: The Elite (Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) vs. The Lucha Bros (Pentagón Jr. and Rey Fénix) and Laredo Kid

RESULT: The Elite win by pinfall with Omega pinning Laredo Kid
THOUGHTS: Of course this was a fun match. It might be hollow in the sense of just being a bunch of stunts and circus maneuvers, like many have criticized these guys of being in the past, but if that's your thing, then this was fun.

Non-Sanctioned Match: Jon Moxley vs. Joey Janela

RESULT: Jon Moxley wins by pinfall
THOUGHTS: Brutal. Dangerous. Lots of fun. Absolutely no thanks would I volunteer to do any of it, but I'll watch it, that's for sure.

Kenny Omega attacked Moxley after the match, hitting him with a V-Trigger, smacking him over the back with a guitar and more. Payback from Double or Nothing.
