PART 1 - APRIL 4, 2020

This event is not at all what we wanted WrestleMania to be, but I hope everyone enjoys the show tonight and tomorrow. Drop a comment below and let's keep the energy up for each other!!

Kickoff Match: Drew Gulak vs. Cesaro

RESULT: Cesaro won by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Generic match. I did like the airplane spin, though. That was neat.

Women's Tag Team Championship Match: The Kabuki Warriors (c) vs. Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross

RESULT: Bliss and Cross won the titles by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Well, I got that one wrong. I guess they're going to go with the feel-good stuff across the board? This was a pretty good match.

Elias vs. King Corbin

RESULT: Elias won by pinfall while holding Corbin's tights.
THOUGHTS: Uninspired. Not a WrestleMania match or feud. No surprises. Nothing interesting to get into. And I say that all while being a fan of both Elias and Corbin.

Raw Women's Championship Match: Becky Lynch (c) vs. Shayna Baszler

RESULT: Becky Lynch retained the title by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Funny story. I missed the end of this, because the WWE Network glitched out for me and REFUSED to let me rewind it. I didn't even get to see the pinfall, so now, I'm in an even worse mood than I've been, if you'd believe it. Now, out of all the matches, all the nights, all the points in the match, a function on the network stops functioning??

Intercontinental Championship Match: Sami Zayn (c) vs. Daniel Bryan

RESULT: Sami Zayn retained the title by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Not as good as I was hoping it would be. This definitely didn't feel like WrestleMania, either. The ending, too. This felt more like SmackDown, and I would be disappointed with it if this same copy/paste happened at even Backlash or something. This was not booked well.

SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match: John Morrison (c) vs. Kofi Kingston vs. Jimmy Uso

RESULT: John Morrison retained the titles.
THOUGHTS: Best match so far. This was a lot of fun.

Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins

RESULT: Kevin Owens won by disqualification when Rollins used the ring bell.
THOUGHTS: Really?! A DQ ending?!! This feud has been going on for 5 months and you're doing this and keeping it going even longer?

Post-match, Owens grabbed a microphone and demanded this be restarted as a No DQ match. There we go.

RESULT #2: Owens won by pinfall.
THOUGHTS #2: KO jumping off the WrestleMania sign was the highlight of the match. I'm glad they restarted it. I can't say that this was a great No DQ match or anything, though.

R-Truth wanted Mojo Rawley and Rob Gronkowski to help him hide and not have to defend the 24/7 Championship. Gronk tried to score a pin, but Rawley pulled him off and then went for a pin of his own to win the 24/7 Championship from R-Truth.

Paul Heyman talked to Charly Caruso backstage about how Drew McIntyre will fail to win the title tomorrow night.

Universal Championship Match: Goldberg (c) vs. Braun Strowman

RESULT: Braun Strowman won the title by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: WOW. WOW. WOW. THEY ACTUALLY DID IT. This was what, 7 moves in its entirety? But holy shit, I don't even think I care. This was an absolutely atrocious "build" to a match and I'm stunned because I'm a Strowman fan and he finally won.

Boneyard Match: AJ Styles vs. The Undertaker

RESULT: The Undertaker won by burial.
THOUGHTS: This was pretty damn cool for something absolutely ridiculous. It's not what I wanted out of their match, but that couldn't have happened anyway. Considering what they had to work with, this was awesome.

Follow-up note: I woke up on April 5th feeling better about Part 1 than I felt when it happened last night. I still don't think some things were great. There are some major flaws and some disappointments (like Zayn/Bryan). But I do feel better about it now that I've had some time to process it. I'm sincerely hoping that energy transfers into later tonight with Part 2.

PART 2 - APRIL 5, 2020

Kickoff Match: Natalya vs. Liv Morgan

RESULT: Liv Morgan won by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Of course this wasn't some amazing match, particularly if you're supposed to judge it on WrestleMania standards. However, if this were just a random match on Raw, it would be pretty damn good for Liv Morgan. Which POV do you want to judge it on?

Backstage, Sonya Deville and Dolph Ziggler are trying to think of ways to manipulate Mandy Rose into forgiving them. Corey Graves says that this is proof you should never ever, under any circumstances, mix business with pleasure. (Ha!)

NXT Women's Championship Match: Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Charlotte Flair

RESULT: Charlotte Flair won the title by submission.
THOUGHTS: I was really liking this match, but I HATE the result. Very disappointed in their decision to put the title back on Flair. I don't think there's any way we're going to look back on this as anything but a mistake. It doesn't do Ripley any good, Flair gets nothing out of this, and I can't imagine a single woman in NXT standing next to Flair and looking like she's got a chance to win.

Aleister Black vs. Bobby Lashley

RESULT: Aleister Black won by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Noooooooboooody caaaaaaaaaares.

Otis vs. Dolph Ziggler

RESULT: Otis won by pinfall
THOUGHTS: This would have gone down so much better in front of a crowd, obviously. That applies to everything, of course, but I think it especially applies to this, the kiss and all that. Good segment, overall, but it's greatly hindered by the atmosphere.

Last Man Standing Match: Edge vs. Randy Orton

RESULT: Edge won.
THOUGHTS: Awesome match. I know some think it went on too long, and I don't entirely disagree with that, but I had fun watching this and I'm very happy with the decision and the fact that this happened to begin with.

A bunch of people chased Mojo Rawley and Rob Gronkowski took advantage of the situation to pin him and win the 24/7 Championship.

Raw Tag Team Championship Match: The Street Profits (c) vs. Angel Garza and Austin Theory

RESULT: The Street Profits retained the titles by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: I like all of these guys, but this was a filler match without much going for it. If you missed it, you didn't miss much.

After the match, Garza and Theory attacked The Street Profits and laid them out. Bianca Belair then made a run-in and attacked Zelina Vega! Belair, Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins stood tall.

SmackDown Women's Championship Fatal 5-Way Elimination Match: Bayley (c) vs. Lacey Evans vs. Naomi vs. Sasha Banks vs. Tamina

- Tamina was eliminated by a bunch of them stacked on top of her. (Who could've possibly seen that coming?! LOL)
- Naomi was eliminated by Banks
- Sasha Banks was eliminated by Lacey Evans (and with that, the only interesting thing about this match is in the rear-view)
- Lacey Evans was eliminated.

RESULT: Bayley retained the title.
THOUGHTS: Whoever is responsible for this awful Bayley title reign needs to stop. None of this has been good. The "build" or lack thereof heading into this match was atrocious and this was their idea of something good enough for WrestleMania? Throw a bunch of people like Tamina and 2 of the people who already lost to Bayley in a match where Bayley just wins again? What the hell? The only interesting thing that could have happened would have been if Banks won the title and they started to try to salvage the idea of that feud, and they couldn't bother with that. Terrible. Absolutely terrible booking.

Firefly Fun House Match: Bray Wyatt vs. John Cena

RESULT: Bray Wyatt won by "pinfall"...even though he counted the pin...
THOUGHTS: WTF was that?

WWE Championship Match: Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Drew McIntyre

RESULT: Drew McIntyre won the title by pinfall
THOUGHTS: This had to happen. If they wouldn't have...oh boy. The match itself? It was a series of finishers, just like Goldberg vs. Strowman. That's all WWE does with Lesnar and Goldberg. It's not even worth watching, to be honest.
