WWE NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool 2019 Spoilers and Predictions

United Kingdom Championship Match: Pete Dunne (c) vs. Joe Coffey

I keep thinking it's time to have a new champion crowned, but Coffey doesn't strike me as the person to go with. Then again, they might want to have a new champion crowned on TakeOver because it's a big event for the brand. Let's put it this way: if my other predictions below are wrong and Storm wins and/or Moustache Mountain win, then Coffey wins. If not, and the heels come out on top of those two other matches, then Dunne retains.

PREDICTION: Pete Dunne retains the title.


NXT UK Tag Team Championship Match: Moustache Mountain (Trent Seven and Tyler Bate) vs. Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson and James Drake)

Logic would dictate Seven and Bate win the titles, as they're the more preeminent tag team, but that pretty much means to me that WWE won't go with them as the winners.

PREDICTION: Gibson and Drake become the first champions.


NXT UK Women's Championship Match: Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Toni Storm

I had thought Storm would be the first champion, so I was surprised when Ripley won instead. Since she's only held the title a short time frame, I can't imagine they'd switch over to a new champion.

PREDICTION: Rhea Ripley retains the title.


No Disqualification Match: Dave Mastiff vs. Eddie Dennis

Hm. This seems weird. Why is the big guy the babyface and the scrawny guy the heel? It seems the polar opposite of what this feud would normally be.

PREDICTION: Eddie Dennis wins through being able to use weapons somehow.


Travis Banks vs. Jordan Devlin

After having so many weeks and months to build up to the best possible card, it's disappointing to me that one of the matches is essentially just "on one episode, one of the guys challenged the other to a fight and the heel has dodged him, so now they're gonna fight" without much more substance to it. I'm sure Banks and Devlin will put on a good match, but the storyline itself is just so flat to me.

PREDICTION: Jordan Devlin comes out on top.
