Review of UFC 218 pay-per-view Holloway vs Aldo

MAIN CARD

FEATHERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: Max Holloway (c) vs Jose Aldo (#1)

This time Holloway controlled the first two rounds, but dominated the third, just like in the first fight between these two. I think he's put to bed any argument that he isn't the best Featherweight in the world. Unless McGregor comes back down, of course.

RESULT: Max Holloway, 3rd round TKO.

HEAVYWEIGHT: Alistair Overeem (#1) vs Francis Ngannou (#4)

Francis Ngannou might just be my new favourite fighter. And Ngannou vs Stipe Miocic for the title is going to be a hell of a fight.

RESULT: Francis Ngannou, 1st round KO.

FLYWEIGHT: Henry Cejudo (#2) vs Sergio Pettis (#4)

As I said in the prediction, I'm not a fan of Pettis at 125lbs, good win for Cejudo, though.

RESULT: Henry Cejudo, unanimous decision.

LIGHTWEIGHT: Eddie Alvarez (#4) vs Justin Gaethje (#5)

A very fun fight, Alvarez won all three rounds, but these two really know how to put on a show!

RESULT: Eddie Alvarez, 3rd round TKO.

STRAWWEIGHT: Tecia Torres (#5) vs Michelle Waterson (#6)

Easy 30-27 win for Torres.

RESULT: Tecia Torres, unanimous decision.

PRELIMINARY CARD

LIGHTWEIGHT: Charles Oliveira vs Paul Felder

Fairly simple win for Felder, easily took the first round the gets the finish at the end of the second.

RESULT: Paul Felder, 2nd round TKO.

WELTERWEIGHT: Alex Oliveira (#15) vs Yancy Medeiros

Great fight! Oliveira takes the first, but Medeiros pulls it back in the second before getting a TKO in the third.

RESULT: Yancy Medeiros, 3rd round TKO.

LIGHTWEIGHT: David Teymur vs Drakkar Klose

Fairly simple win for Teymur, a couple of close rounds, but I think he won all three.

RESULT: David Teymur, unanimous decision.

STRAWWEIGHT: Felice Herrig (#9) vs Cortney Casey (#11)

Three very close rounds. I think it's fair to say that Herrig won the first and Casey won the third, but it's all down to who you give the second round to. Personally, I think Casey probably just edged it.

RESULT: Felice Herrig, split decision.

EARLY PRELIMINARY CARD

STRAWWEIGHT: Amanda Cooper vs Angela Magana

The first round was easily Cooper's and I'm surprised the second round lasted as long as it did, Cooper dominated!

RESULT: Amanda Cooper, 2nd round TKO.

WELTERWEIGHT: Sabah Homasi vs Abdul Razak Alhassan

I thought Homasi looked slightly better, but Alhassan got the finish towards the end of the round.

RESULT: Abdul Razak Alhassan, 1st round TKO.

LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT: Jeremy Kimball vs Dominick Reyes

Reyes pretty much dominated this fight, a good submission as well.

RESULT: Dominick Reyes, 1st round submission.

HEAVYWEIGHT: Justin Willis vs Allen Crowder

Willis gets a knockout in about half a round. Not too much to say.

RESULT: Justin Willis, 1st round KO.
