Wrestling Smack Talk: 8/4/2012

Posted by Anthony Mango Saturday, August 4, 2012
What's been going on this week in the world of professional wrestling? It's time to break it down in the latest edition of SMACK TALK, my wrestling podcast and the quick notes below. Make sure to subscribe, comment on the videos and this post, and let us know your thoughts.

Watch each part below:
Part 1 | Part 2

  • Booker T is the new Smackdown General Manager? I can dig it.......sucka.
  • Yoshi Tatsu is upset with his position in the company and that they didn't let him do more to raise money in relief for the Japanese aid efforts. I understand the latter, but not the former. WWE apparently didn't have Tatsu on a tour because he's on Smackdown and not Raw, but they switch people all the time so it seems like they just didn't care, which is ridiculous. However, Tatsu shouldn't complain about his spot on the WWE Hierarchy - he's simply not a main event performer.
  • Tensai decides to Tout that it's dangerous to drive with Sakamoto because he's Japanese and he needs to open his eyes. Ouch - way to derail your push even more.
  • Abraham Washington ("AW") says a rape joke on Raw when he's on the live mic that the WWE and later on he himself apologize for. The joke was a reference to Kobe Bryant's hotel dealings. I understand why these things can be touchy subjects, but I also see how some people try to argue that a heel character trying to get heat needs to sometimes push boundaries. There's a fine line. While I'm not personally offended by it, I can't say the same for others.
  • The Raw set caught fire before they started the show. Bad omen for the 3 hour format, or are things just heating up?
  • Michelle McCool and the Undertaker are expecting a baby? Congrats!
