WWE FRIDAY NIGHT SMACKDOWN spoilers and results for the August 28, 2026 episode. This week's SmackDown was taped in advance on Monday, August 24 following WWE Raw at Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

Below are spoilers from the taping with match winners, promo notes, backstage segments and other noteworthy developments scheduled to air on Friday's episode.

Friday Night SmackDown will air August 28 at 8 p.m. ET on the USA Network.

FRIDAY NIGHT SMACKDOWN SPOILERS & RESULTS: AUGUST 28, 2026

• Kevin Owens opened SmackDown with a promo following what happened in his WWE Championship match last week. CM Punk interrupted, followed by Gunther and then Finn Balor. The confrontation led to Nick Aldis setting up Owens vs Gunther vs Balor in a Triple Threat Match later in the night to determine Punk's next challenger.
• Chelsea Green and Tiffany Stratton had a segment ahead of teaming together, with Green's existing injury continuing to be emphasized.
• Irresistible Forces (Nia Jax and Lash Legend) defeated Chelsea Green and Tiffany Stratton by pinfall. Medics attempted to remove Green from the match because of her injury, but she returned rather than leaving Stratton on her own. Nia Jax reportedly scored the deciding fall.
• Nick Aldis met with Danhausen backstage until Gunther interrupted them.
• Women's United States Championship Match: Jacy Jayne (c) defeated Paige by pinfall to retain the title. Nikki Bella made a surprise return afterward and attacked Paige.
• Cody Rhodes and Finn Balor had a promo segment together during the show.
• Trick Williams and Lil Yachty had an in-ring segment involving United States champion Baron Corbin ahead of Yachty's five-minute challenge against Corbin at Sunday Night's Main Event.
• Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton had another heated confrontation ahead of their match at Sunday Night's Main Event. Orton attempted to provoke Cody despite Cody being unable to put his hands on him, including taking personal shots at Brandi Rhodes and Cody's mother.
• Tatum Paxley was featured with Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair prior to her match with Michin.
• Rey Fenix was interviewed in a segment involving Ricky Saints.
• Tatum Paxley defeated Michin by pinfall. Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair were in Paxley's corner.
• Blake Monroe was interviewed backstage until Giulia attacked her, getting some revenge for Monroe's assault from the previous week.
• Damian Priest and R-Truth had a backstage interaction involving The War Raiders.
• Nick Aldis had another backstage segment involving Irresistible Forces, The Miz and Kit Wilson. The Miz and Kit Wilson vs Kyoki and Shinsuke Nakamura was set for next week's SmackDown.
• Kevin Owens and Randy Orton interacted later in the show.
• Undisputed WWE Championship No. 1 Contender's Triple Threat Match: Kevin Owens vs Gunther vs Finn Balor ended due to interference from Sami Zayn. Zayn crashed the main event before a challenger could be determined. CM Punk came out and became involved, but Zayn ultimately attacked everyone and stood tall with Punk's WWE Championship to close the show.
