FRIDAY NIGHT SMACKDOWN RESULTS: JULY 17, 2026
- Promo: Gunther opened the show to complain about his tag team match for Saturday Night's Main Event. Adam Pearce interrupted to say that if he were making the call, Gunther would be fired. But instead, there's a stipulation for SNME where if Gunther and Sami Zayn win the tag match, they'll be inserted into the CM Punk vs. Cody Rhodes bout for the WWE Championship and it will become a Fatal 4-Way. Cody came out, itching for a fight, challenging him to a match for later.
- Adam Pearce announced that Rhea Ripley's injury has her on the shelf for an indeterminate amount of time, so over the course of the next few weeks, five women will earn spots in a ladder match to crown an interim champion at SummerSlam.
- Finn Balor defeated Talla Tonga by pinfall
- Backstage: Adam Pearce and CM Punk talked about the stipulation for SNME. Damian Priest then bumped into Punk and said he's coming for the title if Punk is still champion after SummerSlam. Punk retorted that maybe Punk and Cody will be such a good tag team that they'll come for Wepa Up's tag team titles instead.
- Jacy Jayne vs. Tiffany Stratton started with a fight between Stratton backed up by Paige and Brie Bella against all three members of Fatal Influence. Tiffany Stratton defeated Jacy Jayne by pinfall to earn a spot in the SummerSlam ladder match.
- Vignette: Baron Corbin has been watching the show and is mad at all the people thinking they're tough. He's the real deal, and people like Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes are going to have to suffer as collateral damage as he's coming for it all.
- In response, Trick and Melo had a backstage segment to illustrate their continued rivalry as they aren't on the same page at all just because Corbin went after both of them, and they both talked trash about the other not being as good as they themselves are.
- Jade Cargill defeated Nia Jax by disqualification due to Charlotte Flair going after Cargill, nearly being able to smash Jade's arm in a steel chair for some revenge after Jade did the same to Alexa Bliss last week. Cargill advances by proxy of the DQ, so Jax was upset after and attacked Flair. Cargill then planted Flair with Jaded.
- Backstage: Candice LeRae rolled Johnny Gargano into frame to interrupt Gunther's interview, saying The Ring General shouldn't do anything stupid tonight because "they" need the win tomorrow since they're friends with Sami. Gunther told her to relay a message that Sami needs to not get in his way. Blake Monroe then attacked Candice for some reason and said Gargano needs a haircut.
- Backstage: Lash Legend and Nia Jax complained to Adam Pearce about the disqualification. Pearce said Jax gets another shot to qualify when she fights Charlotte Flair.
- War Raiders (Erik & Ivar) defeated Fraxiom (Axiom & Nathan Frazer) by pinfall
- Jackie Redmond interviewed Danhausen about SNME and how he turned down help from Matt Cardona to offset The Judgment Day. Danhausen's secret weapon is a stuffed animal in a bird cage.
- Cody Rhodes vs Gunther went to a no-contest after Sami Zayn and CM Punk got involved and a brawl ensued.
