AEW Double or Nothing 2022 Spoilers

AEW World Championship Match: "Hangman" Adam Page (c) vs. CM Punk

Very cool. I don't feel like this is the best possible match for Page in the grand scheme of things, as I'd like to see Page not get booed, but there's a solid chance fans chant for Punk instead. However, this was one of the top matches Page could have as far as star power. So long as this match is booked in a way that Page doesn't lose momentum, it should all work out. And no, I don't think Punk is going to win. I think that would be a mistake.

PREDICTION: Adam Page retains.

AEW Women's World Championship Match: Thunder Rosa (c) vs. Serena Deeb

Truth be told, while I think Thunder Rosa is going to retain her title, I don't think it's a guarantee. Serena Deeb has been on a roll. In an ideal world, that's because they knew they were going to set her up for a title match and wanted to build up her credibility. Mission accomplished. But it wouldn't shock me if Deeb actually was the next champion and used as a transitional title-holder to pass it on to someone like Toni Storm. I'll say this, though: their promos have been awful. The less they talk, the better it is for this feud. The match should be great, even though the more they talk, the less interested I am.

PREDICTION: Thunder Rosa retains.

Owen Hart Foundation Men's Tournament Final: Adam Cole vs. Samoa Joe

I didn't quite expect Johnny Elite to be the joker pick, but once he showed up, I was back to my original idea of Adam Cole against Samoa Joe as the final. I'm excited to see what Joe and Cole can do together. Remember when NXT was good? This should be an indicator of what we could have gotten there, before WWE decided to hack and slash at the roster and switch everything to 2.0. I fully expect Cole to win. Jay Lethal's group could cost Samoa Joe the win, and reDRagon could do the same.

PREDICTION: Adam Cole wins.

Owen Hart Foundation Women's Tournament Final: Britt Baker vs. Ruby Soho

I was expecting this to come down to Toni Storm against Dr. Britt Baker, with Storm winning. That was prior to the bracket being announced. That, along with Hikaru Shida being replaced by Kris Statlander, swerved things up a bit. While Baker makes sense when judging who is more established, Soho winning this derails no plans for the titles or anything. This is a good consolation prize, and Baker losing doesn't kill her credibility by any means. It means we don't get Cole and Baker celebrating together, but that's more than okay. You don't want two heels winning the tournament, right?

PREDICTION: Ruby Soho wins.

Hook and Danhausen vs. Tony Nese and "Smart" Mark Sterling

This Danhausen thing isn't for everyone. I'm of that group. This feels like a complete waste of time that could have been dedicated to a better match that would mean more. I can't imagine finishing this event and not feeling like I would have preferred to save this time and have this elsewhere on Dark or Rampage. I get that AEW is trying to go for variety and throwing a gimmicky comedic match here appeals to people in opposition of some great in-ring action, but this particular story and all just doesn't work for me.

PREDICTION: Hook and Danhausen win.

MJF vs. Wardlow

The most obvious thing would be Wardlow winning. Therefore, shouldn't MJF win? He's had a tendency to lose the matches that actually matter, and I think if AEW does something that makes it a shady finish, MJF can win without hurting Wardlow. I'm excited for this. This feud has been one of the best things on AEW television right now.

PREDICTION: MJF wins.

AEW World Tag Team Championship Three-Way Match: Jurassic Express (c) vs. Team Taz vs. Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland

Look at the group of guys involved in this match. Of course this is going to be fun. It's interesting this is the second triple threat tag title match in a row. Maybe there's something to dissect there. Or, maybe they just have a lot of teams and this was the best way to book a lot more people on the card. No matter the case, I think both Jurassic Express will retain and that this match will be great.

PREDICTION: Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy will retain.

Anarchy in the Arena Match: The Jericho Appreciation Society vs. Blackpool Combat Club, Santana, Ortiz and Eddie Kingston

Bryan Danielson's status for this match has yet to be confirmed after his leg got caught between the entrance ramp and the ring while taping Rampage. If he's able to compete, this should be a super fun match. Watching these guys brawl and beat the tar out of each other will likely be one of the biggest highlights of the event.

PREDICTION: The Jericho Appreciation Society wins.

AEW TBS Championship Match: Jade Cargill (c) vs. Anna Jay

Poor Anna Jay is just going to be fed to Cargill. No way the title changes hands.

PREDICTION: Jade Cargill retains.

The Hardys (Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy) vs. The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson)

This was a given. I'm hoping they have a ladder match following this. All I can really say is that if they didn't do this match somewhere down the line, it would have been one of those "WTF?" scenarios. Obviously, The Young Bucks patterned themselves off The Hardy Boyz in part, so this hype speaks for itself.

PREDICTION: The Young Bucks win.

Six-Man Tag Team Match: The House of Black (Brody King, Buddy Matthews and Malakai Black) vs. Death Triangle (PAC, Penta Oscuro and Rey Fenix)

The House of Black has been kind of a dud, hasn't it? Or is that just me? This feud has been stalled quite a bit, and they're just finally getting around to it, but I think it's lost most of its steam. While it should be a good enough match in a bubble, I can't say I'm as thrilled to watch it as some of the other matches on the card.

PREDICTION: The House of Black wins.

Darby Allin vs. Kyle O'Reilly

There's no doubt this match is going to be good. They're going with the idea that Allin is getting revenge on O'Reilly taking out Sting. That works for me. Simple.

PREDICTION: Darby Allin wins.

Mixed Trios Match: Men of the Year and Paige VanZant vs. Sammy Guevara, Tay Conti and Frankie Kazarian

The stipulation here is that if the babyfaces win, Sammy Guevara doesn't get another shot at the TNT Championship. Considering how long this has gone on, I think this is the most fitting way to just end that feud and not keep it going forever.

PREDICTION: Scorpio Sky, Ethan Page and Paige VanZant win.

This page will be altered on a regular basis to reflect changes to the show including any new matches added to the lineup, adjustments to the card, revised predictions and any other information about this event. Stay tuned for the latest updates!
