AEW Double or Nothing 2022 Spoilers

AEW World Championship Match: "Hangman" Adam Page (c) vs. CM Punk

Very cool. I don't feel like this is the best possible match for Page in the grand scheme of things, as I'd like to see Page not get booed, but there's a solid chance fans chant for Punk instead. However, this was one of the top matches Page could have as far as star power. So long as this match is booked in a way that Page doesn't lose momentum, it should all work out. And no, I don't think Punk is going to win. I think that would be a mistake.

PREDICTION: Adam Page retains.

AEW Women's World Championship Match: Thunder Rosa (c) vs. Serena Deeb

Truth be told, while I think Thunder Rosa is going to retain her title, I don't think it's a guarantee. Serena Deeb has been on a roll. In an ideal world, that's because they knew they were going to set her up for a title match and wanted to build up her credibility. Mission accomplished. But it wouldn't shock me if Deeb actually was the next champion and used as a transitional title-holder to pass it on to someone like Toni Storm.

PREDICTION: Thunder Rosa retains.

Owen Hart Foundation Men's Tournament Final: (Adam Cole or Jeff Hardy) vs. (Samoa Joe, Unknown Joker Entrant, Rey Fenix or Kyle O'Reilly)

This joker pick is throwing me off. There's a chance Samoa Joe still beats that guy, but I'm really at a loss for who might be in the finals. I definitely don't think we'll get Adam Cole against Kyle O'Reilly. Maybe Adam Cole against Samoa Joe?

PREDICTION: TBD

Owen Hart Foundation Women's Tournament Final: (Toni Storm, Britt Baker or Unknown Joker Entrant) vs. (Riho, Ruby Soho, Red Velvet or Hikaru Shida)

I was expecting this to come down to Toni Storm against Dr. Britt Baker, with Storm winning. However, with the bracket putting them on the same side, and with that joker entry against Baker, that's changed things up. Now, I'm thinking Hikaru Shida beats Red Velvet, Ruby Soho beats Riho, and we get Shida beating Soho to be the right side. Storm beats Hayter, Baker beats the joker, Baker beats Storm and we get Baker/Shida? Hell, maybe they actually do want to push Soho and it is Baker/Soho? It would be strange if it's Storm/Soho.

Not knowing how this will play out makes it infinitely more interesting than if the bracket was in an obvious pattern. I'm down for being surprised here and there, aren't you?

PREDICTION: TBD

Hook and Danhausen vs. Tony Nese and "Smart" Mark Sterling

This Danhausen thing isn't for everyone. I'm of that group. This feels like a complete waste of time that could have been dedicated to a better match that would mean more. I can't imagine finishing this event and not feeling like I would have preferred to save this time and have this elsewhere on Dark or Rampage. I get that AEW is trying to go for variety and throwing a gimmicky comedic match here appeals to people in opposition of some great in-ring action, but this particular story and all just doesn't work for me.

PREDICTION: Hook and Danhausen win.

MJF vs. Wardlow — not yet confirmed

Technically speaking, this hasn't been made official. There will be a contract signing next week on Dynamite to settle the terms and stipulations. This will be updated Wednesday night.

PREDICTION: TBD

More matches will be announced in time.

PREDICTED MATCHES (as of 5/12/2022)

  • I'd imagine Jade Cargill will successfully defend her TBS Championship against whoever she's up against. She's not dropping that title yet.
  • Scorpio Sky defending the TNT Championship is a possibility, but outside of the Sammy Guevara feud, I don't know who would be in contention.
  • Maybe a Stadium Stampede match with The Jericho Appreciation Society against Eddie Kingston, Santana, Ortiz and The Blackpool Combat Club?
  • Either a Casino Ladder Match or Casino Battle Royale?
  • Jurassic Express against both Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland as well as Ricky Starks and Powerhouse Hobbs in a three-way for the tag titles?

This page will be altered on a regular basis to reflect changes to the show including any new matches added to the lineup, adjustments to the card, revised predictions and any other information about this event. Stay tuned for the latest updates!
