WWE SummerSlam 2025 Spoilers

Street Fight for the Undisputed WWE Championship: John Cena (c) vs. Cody Rhodes

Two options here:

1) Cody Rhodes wins. John Cena holds his hand up. Babyface turn for Cena. Celebration. Ballyhoo. See ya, folks.

2) Cody Rhodes is about to win (or does win), but Seth Rollins cashes in Money in the Bank and steals the title because this being a street fight allowed for things to get brutal and he is too spent.

I don't think the latter is as likely to happen—particularly with Rollins injured. It might have been part of their original plans with them forced to pivot. But I don't think they were going to pull the trigger that fast anyway.

I definitely do not under any circumstances think Cena is just going to win this match and retain and that's it, adios everyone and thanks for tuning in to SummerSlam.

PREDICTION: Cody Rhodes wins the title.

WWE Women's Championship Match: Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Jade Cargill

I'm really curious why WWE is going in this direction. This doesn't strike me as a feud that you'd make sure to check off, nor a match that you'd put down as your must-see type of affair. Is it just purely based on the "aura" of those two standing opposite each other on the marquee posters and such?

Since Naomi is out of the picture now, that changes up a lot of what I was assuming would happen. Now, I'm less confident, but I'll say Stratton drops the title and WWE wants to eventually build to Cargill as a heel against Bianca Belair at WrestleMania.

PREDICTION: Jade Cargill wins.

Randy Orton & Jelly Roll vs. Drew McIntyre & Logan Paul

I can't say this is something that I would have booked on the card. Not everything is for me. I mean, not only is it a variety show, but I obviously have expressed in tons of ways how I would have some different creative than WWE just on a regular basis. Jelly Roll isn't someone I care about, so this isn't getting a pop from me, and Logan Paul's perpetually "a great performer who I really wish I could like, but I just can't." Drew McIntyre lost at Saturday Night's Main Event, which makes me think his side is winning here, but it depends on if they want to do the whole thing where the celebrity somehow looks stronger than the wrestlers. I hope not. I'd have Jelly Roll take the pin.

PREDICTION: Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul win.

Triple Threat Match for the Women’s World Championship: Naomi (c) vs. Iyo Sky vs. Rhea Ripley

Naomi's not dropping the title this fast. That would be very shocking. Of course, it's POSSIBLE, but to have her switch brands and do her Money in the Bank cash-in at Evolution just to drop it 3 weeks later seems a bit odd to me. WWE is fond of doing the same thing multiple times. I think we're going to see basically a repeat of Evolution where Rhea Ripley has the match won and Naomi steals it from her. There's a chance someone like Lash Legend is brought up from NXT to Raw and joins Naomi as her heater and that's the big "next phase of this story" that happens here.

PREDICTION: Naomi retains.

Singles Match for the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship: Becky Lynch (c) vs. Lyra Valkyria

Is this really the best they could do? I'm past it. Lynch shouldn't drop the title back to Valkyria, as I don't think the division moves forward if that happens. Lynch should be moving on to another challenger, too. Valkyria's had enough matches with Becky. I guess Becky retains here after Bayley does something to Lyra?

PREDICTION: Becky Lynch wins.

Singles Match for the World Heavyweight Championship: GUNTHER (c) vs. CM Punk

I think a lot of people are forgetting about Crown Jewel in Perth. It's not the direct next event after this, but it's still coming up, and it should be featuring the two world champions against each other. While I'm holding firm that John Cena is losing that title to Cody Rhodes, and it's entirely possible that's where we see Rhodes against Punk, I think we're more so inclined to get Rhodes vs Gunther II. This time around, Gunther wins, and this start to help set him up to eventually face Cena (after his face turn) in December at Ruthless Aggression.

Supposedly, according to some sources, the original plan was for Rollins to cash in MITB and win this title, not the Undisputed WWE Championship. That's obviously possible, since Naomi cashed in on the opposite champion that yours truly and many others thought that she would. But unless it's to set up even more of a feud with CM Punk, and somehow bypass Gunther in a way that I can't quite piece together, I would think that probably wasn't going to happen, or at least isn't anymore.

PREDICTION: Gunther wins.

Singles Match for the Intercontinental Championship: Dominik Mysterio (c) vs. AJ Styles

Technically, this isn't official yet, but whatever, it will be.

This has been put off for quite a while after its initial tease. Many people would probably assume at that point that it means Styles is winning the title as it's been "built up" for so long. I'm sticking with Dirty Dom. Even though Finn Balor is currently holding the tag team titles alongside JD McDonagh, and that might be a sign that they've put the Balor/Mysterio feud on hold or decided to outright go in another direction, I still think that they're going to end up feuding at some point and that Mysterio needs to hold that title longer in order for that to happen. Plus, he's just great. There are other people who could dethrone him, too. It's not like The Phenomenal One is the only option.

PREDICTION: Dominik Mysterio wins.

Steel Cage Match for the WWE United States Championship: Solo Sikoa (c) vs Jacob Fatu

This is the best thing they could have booked. Obviously, people want to see a rematch between these two after Fatu lost the title. It's the natural progression of their storyline, and the fans like Fatu and want to see him win it back.

There's no bigger opponent for either of them that would be set up in time to do something else at SummerSlam, either. Particularly since Aleister Black and Damian Priest are in a feud with each other, rather than against either of these. Plus, Jimmy Uso already had his opportunity as the sacrificial lamb in the meantime. Perfect.

But booking this as a steel cage match is even better, since it presents the idea that Talla Tonga, JC Mateo, and Tonga Loa are going to be incapacitated and unable to interfere on behalf of Sikoa, rendering this a fair fight where Fatu will have the edge.

Unfortunately, this is a steel cage match in WWE. That means the babyface is doomed to be unable to prevent the outside interference that the steel cage is meant to block. And that could come about just from everyone climbing it, or the referee needing to be taken out, or maybe even the return of Tama Tonga in some fashion.

In any case, I think Fatu isn't walking out with the title. But he doesn't need it, either. He'll be okay. This guy's over as hell and if they play their cards right, could be a major player in a Stone Cold Steve Austin type of rebellious bad ass type.

PREDICTION: Solo Sikoa retains.

WWE Women's Tag Team Championship Match: The Judgment Day (Raquel Rodriguez & Roxanne Perez) vs. Alexa Bliss & Charlotte Flair

This one is tough. In another era, the easy pick would be Bliss and Flair just winning it because two pairs of bigger singles stars trumps two girls who are lower on the card even if they're the tag team champions. That was always the case. These days, not so much. The division has gotten better, albeit still not perfect, in allowing a little more flexibility.

Nevertheless, we did just see Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill running this division not TOO long ago, so it's entirely possible Bliss and Flair win these titles as the company wants to run with them, give them something prominent to do, and keep them both out of the world and midcard title hunts in the meantime.

By the way, Giulia sure isn't doing anything, is she?

I struggle with trying to think of who could beat The Judgment Day for these belts if it isn't Bliss and Flair, but I also can't quite imagine WWE taking the belts off them when they LOVE keeping titles on The Judgment Day so much.

Plus, if there's one thing WWE likes better than pairing up two singles stars and calling them a tag team without any tag team name (just announcing them as X and Y), it's breaking up said tag team as the whole purpose of teaming them up in the first place. And even though it's only been a tentative couple weeks of even testing out this alliance between The Queen and The Goddess, they might be tempted to break them apart and have them fight with each other already.

PREDICTION: The Judgment Day wins. I'm only 51/49 on this, though.

Roman Reigns & Jey Uso vs Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed

It gets these guys on the card and it presents them as big enough names that a tag team match that would normally main event Monday Night Raw is filling in the undercard of this show. SummerSlam should be bigger, ideally, but it's also the show that was main-evented by The Mega Powers in tag team action, for instance.

The bad thing about this is that the Brons are in a bad spot right now where WWE doesn't want to commit to pushing them without Seth Rollins, so they're just looking like the two lackeys have no direction, and you know that a win over Reigns here (even by proxy of pinning Uso instead, but ideally, by pinning Reigns) would mean SO much to them...yet there isn't a chance that happens.

PREDICTION: Roman Reigns and Jey Uso win.
