| WWE SummerSlam 2026 Spoilers & Predictions |
Hell in a Cell Match: Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi
Oba Femi winning King of the Ring is a thumbs up. Him saying he'll just wait to challenge for the world title until later is a thumbs down. Rounding out this Lesnar/Femi trilogy here in Minnesota instead of some other random show makes sense. I hope the crowd doesn't cheer for Lesnar. Femi needs to win. Whether this is the end of Lesnar's career or he retires at WrestleMania in Saudi Arabia (ugghghhhhhgh) remains to be seen after this regardless of the outcome, but if it ends here, good. If it ends at Mania against Gunther, I'm fine with that, too.
PREDICTION: Oba Femi wins.
Singles Match for the World Heavyweight Championship: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Seth Rollins
If you're not going to do Oba Femi beating Roman Reigns for the title here, then obviously, Seth Rollins stepping up to challenge is the next biggest match they can do, since apparently there are only like 5 main-eventers WWE is comfortable with.
I don't see a scenario where Rollins comes out on top here. They've firmly established he's beaten Reigns nearly every time it has mattered and that the story is that Roman needs to avenge those losses.
PREDICTION: Roman Reigns retains.
Singles Match for the Women's World Championship: Liv Morgan (c) vs. Iyo Sky
Iyo Sky beating Liv Morgan to win Queen of the Ring, only to challenge Morgan again, who has done nothing with her title since WrestleMania, is lame as hell, particularly because it seems so obvious that that means Morgan retains so that this all ends up being a moot point. There are worse options, but c'mon. That's the best you can come up with as the ONE thing you've done with this title since WRESTLEMANIA? It took 3 months to do nothing, just to have a match take place and say "and then, we'll do that rematch in a month again"? I thought the whole stalling and just telling fans to wait stuff was Vince McMahon's b.s., but Hunter carried that over. Awful.
The sad part about it isn't just that the fans deserve better, but so do the women on Raw. Iyo is great. Liv is great. Lots of women on Raw are great and could have fought Morgan for the title in the meantime. WWE clearly said "but we don't want to do that and we'd rather have virtually nothing than to give any of you the light of day." If I were someone like Bayley, I'd be leaving when my contract is up.
PREDICTION: Liv Morgan retains.
Singles Match for the Undisputed WWE Championship: CM Punk (c) vs. Cody Rhodes
Sami Zayn lost the title to CM Punk on Raw, replacing Cody Rhodes, who had previously earned the title opportunity. That should put Rhodes in the No. 1 contender spot to challenge Punk, which could very well happen, but with Saturday Night's Main Event happening in the meantime, my guess is WWE will set up another #1 contender's match between Rhodes and Zayn and/or Gunther, and I could even see Rhodes losing that if WWE wants to stretch that until WrestleMania.
What's interesting here is that Punk/Rhodes is the biggest match they can do for Mania, but if they do it here, why come back around to it again in 9 months? How do you kill that much time and justify just circling back? But if they don't do it here, they have to find a way not to do the most logical thing AND still kill that much time. If they do Punk/Rhodes at SummerSlam, that's kind of rushed, and leaves them with nothing huge for WrestleMania. There's either something else going on here that we're unaware of, or WWE really is just setting themselves up for yet another "we'll figure it out and when we inevitably don't, we'll learn no lessons from the previous couple years" scenario, aren't they?
Best case scenario, we get a good match here, the upcoming months aren't a drag, and the best case Mania setup goes down. I'm not sure what that means, but in the meantime, I'm at least a fan of Punk, Rhodes, Gunther, and Zayn, so we're at least working with positives there. I just don't want to see the same feud go on for 15 months.
I could see a scenario here where Gunther ends up fighting Punk and Zayn fights Rhodes. Keep that prediction in mind.
Update: As of right now, this is just simply Punk against Cody. I still have my suspicions about that being changed, though.
PREDICTION: CM Punk retains no matter who he is up against.
Singles Match for the Men's Intercontinental Championship: Penta (c) vs. Chad Gable
Penta is set to defend his title against the winner of the No. 1 contender's gauntlet match that will take place on the July 13th Monday Night Raw.
The favorite is probably Chad Gable, considering his fresh push and that this is in Minneapolis, but I don't think it's a guarantee. What's weird is if they go with someone like Ethan Page, who I do think has a chance to play spoiler and upset Gable to win the gauntlet and the title shot, then what does Gable do on this card, and why not give him that win where it would matter most? But even if that does happen, isn't it a little weird if he goes from doing the El Grande Americano gimmick to spite luchador culture only to be the guy to beat Penta for the belt after learning his lesson? Is the story really going to be "he apologized, so he's learned now how to properly beat the luchadors and not be a dick about it"—because that's hilarious.
Update: Chad Gable won the title shot. They didn't do the thing where he had to go through the whole gauntlet, but I guess that's because they wanted to highlight guys like Je'Von Evans and Dragon Lee as well. There's no guarantee Gable wins this title at this show, but it does feel like it SHOULD happen.
PREDICTION: Chad Gable wins.
Six-Man Tag Team Match: The Bloodline's Jacob Fatu and The Usos (Jey Uso & Jimmy Uso) vs LA Knight, Royce Keys and Solo Sikoa
Well, we knew they would put a multi-man tag match on here, because it's effectively impossible at this point even over two nights to cram as many big names on these shows without doing so. I don't hate it like a lot of other people do, even if it feels a bit tacked on.
I would imagine The Bloodline win this if the story is to just build up Fatu or to keep them strong as a unit. Fatu was arguing with The Usos and I thought that would lead to them losing a match like this, but I'm not so sure now. Does Solo Sikoa just succumb and join the family? Or is this a means to turn Solo babyface and he joins Royce as a legit tag team going forward and they beat Damian Priest and R-Truth?
Tough call. I like not knowing any guarantees.
PREDICTION: The Bloodline wins...maybe. I don't know yet.
Fatal 5-Way Ladder Match for the Interim WWE Women's Championship: Jade Cargill vs. Tiffany Stratton vs. 3 TBD
Rhea Ripley's injury has her out long enough that WWE feels the need to crown an interim champion in the meantime, with five women fighting in a ladder match at SummerSlam for that.
So far, Tiffany Stratton has beaten Jacy Jayne to qualify. Jade Cargill stands an extremely high chance to win. But I still think it will be Charlotte Flair coming out on top. We'll see how the rest of the field manifests.
PREDICTION: We don't even know some of the qualifiers. It's too hard to tell right now. Check for updates soon. But for now, I'll say Charlotte Flair wins.
Gunther vs. Nick Aldis
Hey! They're finally doing it! Awesome! I'm glad we'll get to see Nick Aldis wrestling in a WWE ring. Very cool.
He's not going to win, but I would be rooting for him to. I'd like to see them continue to utilize him as a wrestler going forward. But even as a one-off, with Gunther choking him out or whatever, it'll still be fun.
PREDICTION: Gunther wins.
Danhausen vs. Dominik Mysterio
Dom is great. Danhausen's fun. I'm curious what they have in store for why they're doing this, which likely means some kind of promotional thing like Saturday Night's Main Event having all the Knicks stuff. Hopefully, it's not eye-rolling endorsement media hour. But I like these two guys, so we'll see.
PREDICTION: Danhausen wins.
Undisputed WWE Championship No. 1 Contender's Match: Finn Balor vs. Sami Zayn
Very interesting. I'm glad this is a #1 contender's match, as it instantly makes it have stakes instead of just trying to rush some last-minute story feud between them. Something is up about this CM Punk versus Cody Rhodes match and I'm not at all convinced it doesn't end with something involving Sami Zayn and a Triple Threat or Fatal 4-Way to come, especially if Gunther beats Nick Aldis. Balor being tossed into the mix wasn't something I expected would be the next steps, but I'd be down to see him against Punk OR Rhodes, so it'd be interesting if he were to win. Zayn winning and earning the right to make that 3-Way or 4-Way, though, just makes the most sense to me.
PREDICTION: Sami Zayn cheats to win.
Six-Woman Tag Team Match: Paige and The Bella Twins (Brie Bella & Nikki Bella) vs. Fatal Influence (Fallon Henley, Jacy Jayne & Lainey Reid)
While this isn't the type of match that's going to light anything on fire in the ring compared to other things on the card, but there's no denying how popular the acts involved are. Some people will look at this as their highlight they're more excited about than anything else. It's good to see Nikki back in action, and this checks off some star power and another women's match. As far as I'm concerned, just because I won't be itching to add it to a Match of the Year list doesn't mean it doesn't have value for a two-night SummerSlam card. Thumbs up. Fatal Influence takes the loss and The Bella Twins might even retake the tag team titles after this.
PREDICTION: The Bella Twins and Paige win.
