WWE WrestleMania 2022 Spoilers

Winner Takes All Match: Universal Champion Roman Reigns (c) vs. WWE Champion Brock Lesnar (c)

I hate to just write this off as worthless for being the millionth time that these two have fought each other, because some of this stuff between Lesnar and Reigns has been pretty good. But...well...it's the millionth time this has happened.

I don't care if it's title for title. In fact, that makes me dislike this even more by taking another title match away and putting all your eggs in one basket. All that means is that WWE will do double the amount of promos and video packages for one match instead of having two and I'll get even more tired of it. Then, Reigns will show up on Raw after Mania and split the difference, and WWE will have no idea how to get the belt off him without making him look weak with a loss, so they'll have to scramble.

PREDICTION: Roman Reigns wins.

SmackDown Women's Championship Match: Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Ronda Rousey

Snoooooooooooooooooooooooooze we've seen it twice. I don't care if these are two of the biggest names. Move on from repeats. While everyone will go nuts raving over how these are two of the top women and blah blah blah, I couldn't care less about watching the actual match, which is still going to be better than the god awful promos we'll hear for weeks leading up to it.

PREDICTION: Ronda Rousey wins.

Raw Women's Championship Match: Becky Lynch (c) vs. Bianca Belair

WWE's story they're going to pitch you, in the hopes that you just go along with everything like a good fan and don't question it or remember what they want you to forget = "Becky Lynch blindsided Bianca Belair at SummerSlam and beat her in under 30 seconds. But now, Belair is ready to bring the fight to Lynch and is looking for payback. When she beats her and regains the title, that will offset any damage done to Belair's career with that previous loss, cause she'll have won another 'main event of WrestleMania' for the title and will have beaten a future Hall of Famer! Neat, huh?!"

Fans like myself who analyze things = "So you didn't build up any new stars over all these months and you had no other game plan for WrestleMania. You focused so much on the idea that Ronda Rousey would return and that that's the only selling point you care about, and you figured Belair was a good enough option for the other belt. We're not supposed to remember that Belair already had numerous attempts to win back this title and failed. We're just supposed to think that this is an epic rivalry because you say so, and you'll coast until WrestleMania on the premise that the match should be good because both of the wrestlers are talented. You'll half-ass this as much as possible. Then, Belair will win. It'll happen as the opening match of Night 2 after Flair and Rousey main event Night 1 and Lesnar/Reigns will main event Night 2, and you'll refer to it as a main event. Then, you'll struggle to figure out how to follow it up, if you even care to think in the first place about how you don't know how to follow it up."

PREDICTION: Bianca Belair wins.

The Miz and Logan Paul vs. Dominik Mysterio and Rey Mysterio

Ew. Having a celebrity appear at WrestleMania is one thing. Having them compete is another and very rarely ever good (Bad Bunny was a rare exception, for instance). But on top of it being Logan Paul, this is all that it is? The Mysterios? And we're over a month away with all this time to drag this out when the feud has nothing interesting going for it to begin with?

On paper, this is "Logan Paul makes an appearance" and that's it. That's all you're supposed to care about. And when you don't care about Logan Paul...well...what is there for you to be excited about?

PREDICTION: The Mysterios win.

Edge vs. AJ Styles

On paper, this is one of the most exciting matches. I'm a huge fan of both guys. Hopefully, this will meet expectations. I was hoping they would add a twist to it beyond just "Aren't you interested in the match?" Thankfully, Edge turned heel, which gives this enough of a spark. Awesome. In particular, on a card that has so many rematches of shit I've seen multiple to millions of times and celebrities I don't care about acting like distractions, this is easily what I'm most excited for.

PREDICTION: AJ Styles wins.

Anything Goes Match: Sami Zayn vs. Johnny Knoxville

Thankfully, this is not for the Intercontinental Championship and that belt has been passed over to Ricochet. That would have been such a waste. Even still, I don't like how this year's WrestleMania is looking more like the first event, wherein it's matches that look interesting on paper if you don't look at the rest of the card, but the overall thing is just spectacle for the sake of spectacle, even if it won't be good and shits on the regular roster. Jackass was funny years ago. I haven't seen the new film. But I didn't need to see 4 months dedicated to Johnny Knoxville feuding with Sami Zayn and have that take up a spot at WrestleMania.

At least this has been changed to No DQ. Maybe they'll have some interesting gimmicks up their sleeves.

PREDICTION: Johnny Knoxville wins.

Women's Tag Team Championship Fatal 4-Way Match: Carmella and Queen Zelina Vega (c) vs. Sasha Banks and Naomi vs. Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley vs. Natalya and Shayna Baszler

How much do you want to bet they don't even bother to acknowledge Team B.A.D. at all? It's a shame how this is so obviously a case where they have nothing better going on for these women and just slapped this together. If there wasn't a brand split, they'd have more of an ability to focus on these belts. Well, let's be honest. If they wanted to, they could do it. The first step would be to stop erasing every tag team and leaving yourself with no duos on the roster every few months.

Update: Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley are now added into the match. This makes it seem like this is going to be where everyone goes who would have been in a battle royal.

Update: Shayna Baszler and Natalya have been added to the match. At this point, why not add Nikki A.S.H. and Doudrop, and Aliyah and Xia Li? That still leaves Alexa Bliss, Dana Brooke, Tamina and Shotzi as active people not involved, but hey...

PREDICTION: Naomi and Sasha Banks probably win the titles just because.

Drew McIntyre vs. Happy Corbin

I'm a fan of both of these guys, but holy shit, NOBODY CARES. This match shouldn't be on the card.

PREDICTION: Drew McIntyre wins.

Pat McAfee vs. Austin Theory

At least it isn't Vince McMahon who's wrestling. But still, you couldn't have thought of anything better for Austin Theory to do than to fight Pat McAfee? This is such a strange card, and not in an "interesting because it's different, so I'm excited" way, but in a "Why are they doing this?" way.

PREDICTION: Austin Theory wins.

Kevin Owens Show with Stone Cold Steve Austin

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. I told you Austin wasn't going to wrestle. I've been saying for weeks that these rumors make no sense to me and he'll just be in a promo segment. Confirmation. WrestleMania is not at all as important to WWE as it is to the fans. It doesn't matter if it's good, it just matters if it "is" to the company. The sheer fact that it is labeled WrestleMania is all they care about. Austin coming out here and giving a stunner to Owens is exactly the same as Piper's Pit from 2005. They're milking the same cow. And if you complain about it, guess what? You're being a bad fan because "You think having a segment with Austin isn't a big deal??" PLEASE.

PREDICTION: They take up 15 minutes talking. Austin gives KO a stunner. Drinks beer. The end.

SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match: The Usos (c) vs. Rick Boogs and Shinsuke Nakamura

Is this a WrestleMania caliber match? Absolutely not. But considering the way this card has been shaping up, at least these titles are on the card and it's a tag team fighting another tag team for the belts, rather than two random singles people thrown together at the last minute just to get them on the card.

PREDICTION: The Usos retain.

Raw Tag Team Championship Triple Threat Match: RK-Bro (c) vs. Alpha Academy vs. The Street Profits

In what world is this better than a proper feud between Riddle and Randy Orton? I say that as a huge fan of RK-Bro as a team and a big fan of both Alpha Academy and The Street Profits. But let's face it. This is a "throw them all together because we couldn't think of anything better" scenario.

PREDICTION: RK-Bro retains, unless they literally plan on having The Street Profits win and start the Orton/Riddle feud AFTER Mania instead.

The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) vs. Ridge Holland and Sheamus

This would have been much better if Big E wasn't injured and it was a six-man tag, but even then, it wouldn't have really mattered. I say that despite being a fan of all six guys. This is just half-assed filler. I don't know why this isn't even at least Butch in the match to spice things up, but just a redo of what we've been seeing for a while. You couldn't even go with Butch and Ridge for something different?? That's too hard?? This is the type of match that should be on SmackDown, rather than the "we have no plans for the Intercontinental Championship" scenario, or the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

PREDICTION: The New Day wins.

Seth Rollins vs. TBA

Rollins just asked Vince McMahon for a match, after everything, on a random video released on social media prior to Raw, after setting up that the major hook for this upcoming Raw would be that he'd hold the show hostage. WWE DOES NOT CARE about building up this year's WrestleMania whatsoever. Who's his opponent? Well, they're doing the whole "Wouldn't it be interesting if you wait until Mania for the pop?" thing. It's Cody Rhodes.

PREDICTION: Cody Rhodes wins.

Bobby Lashley vs. Omos

Yet another match where the entire build is that one person points to the sign and nothing else other than that Lashley knocked Omos down. That's it. And I'm supposed to go gaga over it.

PREDICTION: Omos wins.
