Smark Out Moment

The WWE NXT Tag Team Championship has changed hands as Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel of Imperium defeated Matt Riddle and Timothy Thatcher to win the titles on the May 13, 2020 episode of NXT.

My immediate reaction: Aaaaaah I didn't have this prepped ahead of time. Rush rush rush. I had a feeling once the match started that they might do the title change, but I had originally thought they might have Riddle and Thatcher retain by the skin of their teeth. Once Riddle inadvertently hit Thatcher, that was it. Now that they've switched the tag titles over to Imperium, instead of what I can assume was the original plan of Grizzled Young Veterans, it still makes sense. Aichner and Barthel are a more realized tag team rather than Thatcher as a replacement for Pete Dunne. Now, Thatcher and Riddle can feud and the tag titles can go in a different direction.
