Smark Out Moment

The WWE NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia pay-per-view is scheduled for January 27, 2018 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Follow along here for spoilers and information on the event's card, lineup of matches and news regarding the pay-per-view.

WWE NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia 2018 Spoilers and Predictions

NXT Championship Match: Andrade "Cien" Almas (c) vs. Johnny Gargano

Gargano fighting Almas is something that I didn't quite anticipate originally when WarGames was finished, but I like it, and with the rumor of Tommaso Ciampa possibly returning around this time, that makes me all that much more interested that we could see him cost Gargano the match. Alternatively, I'd love it for Gargano to win the title, but I'm okay with Almas holding it for a little while longer and dropping it before WrestleMania, too.

PREDICTIONS: Almas retains after Ciampa interferes.


NXT Women's Championship Match: Ember Moon (c) vs. Shayna Baszler

It seemed as though they were hinting (at first) to do a match between Shayna Baszler and Kairi Sane, but after the rumor mill has suggested she's dealing with injuries, they must have just decided to hit the fastforward button. I'm okay with it, even though I figured Ember Moon would be better off fighting someone else. It will all depend on how this works out for the women's Royal Rumble, the championship, and the layout of the women's division going forward. On paper, though, Moon vs. Baszler should be pretty damn good, so I'm not complaining.

PREDICTIONS: Moon retains....er...no....Baszler wins...maybe...I don't know!


NXT Tag Team Championship Match: The Undisputed Era (c) vs. The Authors of Pain

I assume this is pretty much crossing the T's and dotting the I's before The Authors of Pain move up to the main roster and The Undisputed Era move on to a different feud outside of AOP and SAnitY. The feud itself doesn't do anything for me, but there's potential for the match to be fun.

PREDICTIONS: The Undisputed Era retain.


Extreme Rules Match: Adam Cole vs. Aleister Black

Odd that they're having a rematch between these two, but they're popular and the previous encounter was good, so I guess it makes sense more than putting on something like Oney Lorcan vs. Lio Rush, right? The gimmick should help, and I think that will be the reason why Cole comes out on top.

PREDICTIONS: Aleister Black comes up short.


The Velveteen Dream vs. Kassius Ohno

So Lars Sullivan calls out Killian Dain, and then Roderick Strong calls out Lars Sullivan, but neither match takes place and instead, a match is dedicated to Ohno pushing TVD backstage? Okay haha.

PREDICTIONS: The Velveteen Dream wins.
