WWE Extreme Rules 2011 Predictions of Results

Posted by Anthony Mango Friday, April 8, 2011

Coming off the heels of WrestleMania, the WWE gets EXTREME. It's time for the Extreme Rules 2011 PPV. I wouldn't be surprised if WWE took it a little lax on the spots considering Edge's retirement from injuries, but you know there's going to be at least one good hardcore thing that will happen, so that's something to look forward to. But really, they're all over the place with this ppv. Every single match has been altered at least once, the stipulations have been altered, and the draft is right beforehand. Their promotion of it has been off and I don't know if that says something about their current mindset - if they're all just so tired from WrestleMania that they can't focus - or if that's some kind of weird testing pool that they're trying (and seemingly struggling with).

World Heavyweight Championship [Ladder Match]: Christian vs. Alberto Del Rio
Ok, now that this has been updated with Edge's retirement, we've got Christian replacing Edge. I originally thought that this meant Del Rio was a shoe-in to win the title. Now, with the draft changing things around, I'm thinking the total opposite. Despite how I've never been on the "Christian needs to win a world title" side, I do think it would be a good idea for them to give him the title right now, as this would be the maximum pop he could get, considering the Edge situation. If he somehow doesn't win it here, he flat out never will.

PREDICTION: Christian wins the title.

WWE Championship [Cage Match]: The Miz (c) vs. John Cena vs. John Morrison
Man, I am getting tired of having to update this blog with new predictions. They keep changing this card. Anyway, this is a change I'm all for. I didn't want to see R-Truth in this match in the first place, so having Morrison in it makes it much more enjoyable to me. JoMo still won't win the title (and honestly, despite being a fan of him, I'd say he shouldn't) but this definitely adds to the potential for this to be a good match. They've also added the stipulation that this will be a cage match. I'm really excited to see what crazy stuff Morrison pulls off.

PREDICTION: The Miz wins after he escapes the cage while the Johns are busy fighting each other.

Country Whipping Match: Jerry Lawler & Jim Ross vs. Michael Cole & Jack Swagger
This is going to be a wreck, I'd assume. Originally, I thought it might be an interesting short match with Swagger turning face (finally) but now, it seems like they're just building it to be as base as it could possibly be. What exactly is a "country whipping match"? Hell if I know. It's more than likely just a strap match - or, a better description might be "a method of dragging this out and masking the inabilities of the participants". I'm definitely not looking forward to this and I hope they keep it as short as humanly possible.

PREDICTION: Lawler was robbed at WrestleMania, so he wins here.

Last Man Standing: Randy Orton vs. CM Punk
This feud's been pushed backward so much that I sometimes forget it even exists. It's a shame, since it really could have been great, but they just didn't want to give it as much attention as its potential could have sucked up. This match should be good, though, considering how Orton's usually entertaining in this type of match and Punk is an adaptable wrestler.

PREDICTION: Orton the Unstoppable wins.

Falls Count Anywhere: Rey Mysterio vs. Cody Rhodes
I don't think this feud has a ton of steam left in it, but this match should be good.

PREDICTION: Rey Mysterio wins.

Loser Leaves WWE: Michelle McCool vs. Layla
With the recent news that Michelle is looking to take some time off to spend with Undertaker while he's still off the roster, I think it's pretty self-explanatory who wins here. I just hope that in the process, they put Layla over. She deserves to legit win the match instead of just getting a quick pin and then jobbing out like she used to. She's improved too much to go back to that.

PREDICTION: Layla wins, Michelle isn't seen for a while.

PREDICTED MATCHES:
Kofi is either going to take the Intercontinental title from Wade Barrett or, now much more likely, the United States title from Sheamus. One of those titles will find their way on Raw during this pay-per-view.
