Points of Impact Wrestling: TNA Results & Biggest Moments (February 8, 2024)

Posted by Cherry Turner Sunday, February 11, 2024

Welcome to another edition of POINTS OF IMPACT—a breakdown of the top moments of this week's edition of TNA’s Impact Wrestling.

This segment will fill you in on the most important parts of the show worth checking out or keeping up to date with, in case you missed this episode of Impact Wrestling.

Without further ado, let's inspect the biggest takeaways of the week!

TNA IMPACT: FEBRUARY 8, 2024 RESULTS

#5 - In Ali We Trust

In a match “sponsored” by Chris Sabin’s opponent at No Surrender, Mustafa Ali, the X Division Champioj faced John Skyler in non-title singles action this week. Opening the show, this was a fun mix of styles, Sabin usual fast paced, smooth technical mastery put up against the rough but effective no frills approach from Skyler.

Skyler would have an answer for some of Sabin’s offense, such as overhead Belly to Belly suplex when Sabin tried to charge him in the corner, but the lack of speed and urgency from Skyler would cost him, as Sabin would be able to land a corner boot and then the CradleShock for the win.

#4 - Run It Back

In a rematch to their encounter from last month, Xia Brookside and Tasha Steelz once again faced each other one on one, in what was a vastly improved match in this writer’s opinion.

Everything flowed a lot quicker, a lot more fluid, the feeling of the match dragging in between big spots wasn’t present here like it was last time, and when the result of the match indicated a part 3 in the near future, I’ll admit, I was excited. Securing a particularly effective pin from a Sunset Flip out of the corner after countering the Brooksie Bomb, this battle was won by Tasha Steelz, drawing the score to 1-1.

#3 - Juggernaut Glow

Former opponents teamed up this week, as what seems to be Trinity’s last match for TNA saw her stand by Jordynne Grace against Giselle Shaw and Savannah Evans. Shaw, who is set to face Grace for the Knockouts title at No Surrender, let her enforcer Evans do most of the work as usual in this match, which would cost her when Evans tapped out to the Starstruck submission.

In a backstage segment found only on social media, Shaw would take the advice of Gail Kim and fire her lackeys, only to give Evans another chance next week, with the instruction for her to “take care” of Grace.

#2 - Standard Check

After his appearance on Sound Check went less than swimmingly last week, Josh Alexander would face the host of said segment, Alan Angels, in singles competition this week, although “competition” may be a generous way of putting things.

Angels was incredibly scrappy in his offense throughout, attacking Alexander during his entrance, raking his eyes, landing cheap shots wherever he could. He played a cat and mouse game for most of the match, but for once, Tom caught Jerry, as Alexander made him tap out to the Ankle Lock.

After the bell, Alexander would be assaulted by a man in a face mask, who, after beating Alexander down enough to have a moment to breathe, would reveal himself to be Simon Gotch, of Vaudevillains fame, before legging it through the crowd. His former tag partner,  Matthew Rehwoldt on commentary, would claim to know nothing about this.

#1 - Don’t Trust the System

The war between Alex Shelley and co against the System continues, with Shelley facing Eddie Edwards in the main event of this week’s episode in a match that was as good as you’d expect from these two. Edwards fits so comfortably into the bruiser role, and Shelley as the crafty, technical master underdog is always fun to watch. It was that craftiness that got him the win, as he’d counter an attempted Boston Knee Party into a roll up to get the 3.

This of course led to a beatdown by allies of Edwards Alisha and Myers after the bell, but coming to Shelley’s aid was his Timesplitter partner Kushida, and Kushida’s protege Kevin Knight, evening the odds as Impact went off the air.
