WWE Power Rankings Top 10 Superstars This Week #208: 2 Weeks to Hell in a Cell | Smark Out Moment

WWE Power Rankings Top 10 Superstars This Week #208: 2 Weeks to Hell in a Cell

Posted by Jonathan Maldonado Friday, September 7, 2018
Welcome to another edition of POWER RANKINGS from Smark Out Moment! Each week, we will break down the current roster and examine who has gone up the WWE hierarchy and who has taken a step down the ladder. Factoring in things such as wins and losses, suspensions, injuries, making a name for one's self, being humiliated, and more, we rank who is at the top of the food chain and who needs to make up some ground next week.

Here is the key code for the rankings shorthand when referencing their position in relation to the previous week:

NR = Not included in last week's rankings at all
+ Green = the number of moves up in the rankings compared to last week
- Red = the number of moves down in the rankings compared to last week
Honorable Mentions = five superstars who just barely missed the cut

Power Ranking WWE wrestlers list roster

10. The Shield [NR]

Last week Roman Reigns occupied this position, but now he'll share the spot with the rest of his Shield brethren. They hold the Universal and Intercontinental Championships, so they must be included in the top 10. However, for the second week in a row they were laid out by the trio of Braun Strowman, Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler. Raw closed with The Shield laid out cold outside the ring surrounded by most of the heels in the Raw locker room. Not a good showing for the Hounds of Justice.

9. Samoa Joe  [-5]

Samoa Joe is trading places this week with AJ Styles. Joe finally got what was coming to him with all the taunting, and Styles made him look like a fool. Joe didn't look good following a direct encounter, and he's dropping in this week's rankings because of it.

8. Daniel Bryan [NR]

Daniel Bryan takes Miz's place this week following his second consecutive victory over Andrade "Cien" Almas. Not only that, but Bryan and Brie Bella got their revenge on The Miz and Maryse for last week's ambush, and took out Zelina Vega and Almas out in the process.

7. Velveteen Dream  [NR]

While Ricochet is off trying to figure out his beef with Pete Dunne, Velveteen Dream swooped in and grabbed the momentum and a spot on the Power Rankings. Dream put on a show-stealing, damn good match with Johnny Gargano on the latest episode of NXT. Dream took advantage of Gargano's inability to stay focused and beat Johnny Wrestling clean in a barnburner of a match. This is a huge win for Dream as he continues to grow in NXT.

6. The Undertaker [NR]

When the Deadman is back on television, he nabs a spot on the rankings automatically. He becomes the instant focal point of the show and the biggest pop from the crowd. He put on a hell of a promo with Shawn Michaels in a build up to a match with Triple H at Super Show Down in Australia. Undertaker got into Michaels' head about retirement, opening the door to massive rumors about one more match. Not only did Undertaker return, he added fuel to a fire that's been burning since WrestleMania 26.

5. The New Day

The SmackDown tag team champions weren't a part of SmackDown Live this Tuesday, but they maintain their spot on the rankings because they are still the five time champs and still one of the hottest acts on TV.

4. AJ Styles [+5]

See #9 above. AJ Styles whooped Samoa Joe to next year, and deservedly so. The WWE Champion confronted Joe when we thought he wasn't in the building. He met the Samoan threat face-to-face and made a statement.

3. Ronda Rousey [-1]

One could argue Alexa Bliss got the better of Ronda Rousey this week following Bliss' match with Natalya. Bliss picked up the way and chop-blocked the champ, finally giving her something to smile about regarding Rousey. It was enough to knock Rousey down a spot when you consider...

2. Becky Lynch  [+1]

The Irish Lasskicker continues her fiery promos on SmackDown Live Women's Champion Charlotte Flair. During a joint interview over the air, Lynch made it clear she doesn't have an ear for Charlotte's responsible call outs of her behavior. Lynch was emphatic about her place in the roster and is gunning for the title.

1. The Show w/ Braun Strowman [+5]

While Braun Strowman already claimed this spot last week, his two new buddies are joining him as the trio left their biggest mark this week on Raw. Not only did they decimate the shield, McIntyre and Ziggler claimed the Raw Tag Team titles. Now they're not only a trio of legit threats and beasts, they are now champions.

HONORABLE MENTIONS

Rusev Day picked up a win in an entertaining triple threat match with Usos and Sanity to move on in contention for the #1 contender to the tag titles.

Kairi Sane fended off an attack from Shayna Baszler and looked really strong in doing so.

Tommaso Ciampa calls out the NXT roster, saying there's no one to challenge him.

The Bella Twins are back and kicking ass in their first matches.

Authors of Pain have a new manager in 205 Live's Drake Maverick in what looks like a promising partnership.

BIGGEST MOVES THIS WEEK

The Show w/ Braun Strowman +5
Samoa Joe -5
