FRIDAY NIGHT SMACKDOWN RESULTS: OCTOBER 16, 2026
- Promo (In-Ring): Sami Zayn opened SmackDown with Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae. Zayn mocked Je'Von Evans, Trick Williams, Kevin Owens and CM Punk for failing to win Money in the Bank. He suggested Penta should cash in on Roman Reigns instead of him and announced he would confront Reigns on Monday's Raw ahead of Crown Jewel. Trick Williams interrupted and argued with Zayn, who claimed Trick lacked what it takes to succeed at his level. Gargano defended Zayn and accused Williams of having opportunities handed to him, leading to a match between Gargano and Williams.
- Trick Williams defeated Johnny Gargano by pinfall with a Book End following the Trick Shot. Candice LeRae distracted Williams during the match, while Sami Zayn joined commentary. Williams stared down Zayn after his victory.
- Backstage: Nick Aldis informed Blake Monroe that she would face Giulia in a Street Fight next week. Chelsea Green interrupted and discussed Roxanne Perez and Liv Morgan with Aldis. Nikki Bella then demanded a WWE Women's Championship match. Green offered to defend the title next week, but Nikki requested October 30 instead, which was agreed upon.
- A video package hyped Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton's scheduled confrontation later in the show.
- Paige defeated Nikki Bella by pinfall with a folding press while using the ropes for leverage. Paige had previously escaped Nikki's STF and hit an Attitude Adjustment for a near fall.
- Interview: Cathy Kelley asked R-Truth about Damian Priest turning against him. Truth said he was heartbroken over their friendship ending, referenced The Golden Girls theme song and promised to fight Priest later in the show.
- Backstage: Nick Aldis checked on Kevin Owens in the trainer's room following Money in the Bank. CM Punk arrived and demanded a match against Owens. Aldis agreed to arrange the match once both were healthy enough to compete and ordered them to stay away from each other in the meantime.
- Damian Priest defeated R-Truth by referee stoppage after Truth appeared to suffer an injury following a missile dropkick. Truth attacked Priest before the bell, but Priest took control once the match began. After the stoppage, Priest brought a steel chair into the ring, but Fraxiom (Nathan Frazer & Axiom) ran out to prevent another attack.
- Backstage: Gunther entered Nick Aldis' office to complain about Danhausen and Finn Balor. However, Danhausen was sitting behind the desk wearing a neck brace and sling following last week's attack. Danhausen reminded Gunther that he had never pinned him and said he would not be medically cleared until at least Halloween. Gunther threatened to make Halloween a special occasion for him.
- Promo (In-Ring): Alexa Bliss and Tatum Paxley celebrated winning the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship. Bliss thanked Charlotte Flair for allowing Paxley to replace her in last week's match, while Paxley teased having a special gift for Flair upon her return. Fatal Influence interrupted, with Jacy Jayne complaining about Tiffany Stratton winning Money in the Bank and questioning Flair's friendship with Bliss. Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid attacked the champions, but Bliss and Paxley fought them off and knocked down Jayne.
- Interview: Cathy Kelley spoke with Rey Fenix about his brother Penta winning Money in the Bank. Sami Zayn interrupted to ask whether Penta intended to cash in on him or Roman Reigns. Fenix said he did not know his brother's plans.
- Backstage: Fatal Influence confronted Jade Cargill, B-Fab and Michin about the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship. B-Fab and Michin revealed that they had already secured a title match against Alexa Bliss and Tatum Paxley for next week.
- AAA Cruiserweight Championship Match: Rey Fenix (c) defeated Ricky Saints by disqualification to retain the title. Saints shoved referee Charles Robinson into the ropes to knock Fenix off balance on the turnbuckles before hitting Rochambeau. Robinson refused to count the pin because of Saints' actions, prompting Saints to confront and bump into the referee, resulting in the disqualification. Saints attacked Fenix afterward and delivered another Rochambeau.
- Backstage: Cody Rhodes asked Nick Aldis whether Randy Orton had arrived for their scheduled confrontation. Aldis said he had not seen Orton, but Rhodes decided to go to the ring anyway.
- Next week's SmackDown matches were confirmed: Street Fight between Blake Monroe and Giulia, WWE Women's Tag Team Championship match between Alexa Bliss and Tatum Paxley (c) vs B-Fab and Michin, and BAKUSAI (Shinsuke Nakamura & Kyoki) vs The MFTs (Tama Tonga & Talla Tonga) in a non-title match.
- Promo (In-Ring): Cody Rhodes brought a chair into the ring and said he would wait for Randy Orton to appear. Baron Corbin came out instead and criticized Rhodes for complaining about his problems and caring too much about the fans' approval. Corbin claimed to have the killer instinct Rhodes lacked and said he would use Cody to regain his position in WWE. Corbin attempted to attack Rhodes, but Cody fought him off and challenged him to an immediate match.
- Cody Rhodes defeated Baron Corbin by disqualification following interference from Randy Orton. Orton pulled Rhodes out of the ring and attacked him, ending the match. Orton attempted a punt kick, but Cody avoided it and hit a Cody Cutter. Rhodes then prepared to punt Orton, only for Corbin to intervene and receive another Cody Cutter. Orton taunted Rhodes from the entrance ramp, claiming he would not follow through with the punt. Cody responded by punting Corbin in the head and staring down Orton to close the show.
