WWE Money In The Bank 2019 Review and Repercussions - Triple Threat POV | Smark Out Moment

WWE Money In The Bank 2019 Review and Repercussions - Triple Threat POV

Posted by Robert DeFelice Thursday, May 23, 2019
Welcome to another edition of Triple Threat from Smark Out Moment, where three of us get together to discuss three questions based on one big topic going down in the week of professional wrestling.

This week, Aryan Malhotra, Ben Guest, and Robert DeFelice will be giving their thoughts on what transpired at WWE Money In The Bank 2019!

Brock Lesnar got a new funky boombox, Bayley earns all the hugs, Kofi survives, and much more. Let's review Money In The Bank!

Question 1: How are you feeling about Bayley after her tremendous night at Money In The Bank and when do you see her losing the Smackdown Women's Championship?

GUEST: It was nice for Bayley to get the win, and for her to win the title was a relief, seeing as they're not shy on having people lose their cash-ins lately. I hope this signals Bayley being given a bigger role on the main roster, but I'm very cautious to have any kind of hope for her future. I think she will hold the belt until at least Summerslam, but if she loses it on Tuesday, I won't be the biggest shock of the night.

MALHOTRA: Bayley winning was the right choice I think aside from Ember Moon, and the whole thing was pulled off spectacularly. In one night they reheated Bayley from an afterthought to a main player and I feel like she will continue to be one for the near future. Since Becky is now on Raw and Charlotte has held too much gold I see Bayley holding on to this title for quite a long time till maybe Summerslam or even later.

DeFELICE: I think it was a wonderful surprise. She is often the forgotten horsewoman and I even said on this editorial last week that my heart was hoping she would win it. The real test now is will they let her have a real run with it? I hope so and I hope she doesn't lose it until August and maybe to Charlotte Flair as Charlotte continues to inch closer to breaking her father's record in a very small fraction of the time it took the Nature Boy to procure 16 World Championships.

Question 2: With Brock Lesnar as Mr. Money in the Bank, are you at all anymore excited for his character or do you just wish he would go away for good?

DeFELICE: As unpopular as Brock Lesnar is, I have to say I love Brock Lesnar when he's into what he's doing. And this past Monday on Raw, he was very into treating that briefcase like it was a 1980s Boombox and I was able to actually have fun watching Brock Lesnar for a little while. I feel bad for Kofi Kingston or whoever he cashes in on that first SmackDown episode on FOX, but for now, play that funky music white boy.

MALHOTRA: I have mixed feelings on Brock Lesnar, he can be a good addition when he is put in the right place. But the title picture or money in the bank is not the right place I feel. Have him wrestle his limited schedule I don’t mind but let it be inside attraction non-title feuds against newer opponents. I am excited for the character in this sense but absolutely dislike his title involvement.

GUEST: I like Brock Lesnar, but I like him to be away from the title picture. He's more of a novelty act in my mind and should just turn up at big shows to put on a dream match. I think it's weird how many people were saying that Money in the Bank will be treated as a major thing this year and it will be more prevalent on TV, as it was with Seth Rollins or Carmella. But instead the women's contract has already been used, and the men's probably won't be seen again until it's cashed in.

Question 3: What do you think about the new 24/7 Championship in WWE?

MALHOTRA: The 24/7 title as a side concept for fun segments and to have involvement of the unused roster seems like a really fun concept to me. Till now it has been good and allowed R Truth, Drave Maverick, etc to get screen time and show a new side of themselves. But let’s hope it stays in actual wackiness and craziness and not in segments of forced comedy.

DeFELICE: I love it. To hell with all of the haters. This new 24/7 Championship is fun and is allowing so many extra people on the roster to have a sense of purpose. Let's just enjoy the craziness that will no doubt commence every single week and just let wrestling entertain us for a little while.

GUEST: Let's not kid ourselves, this is just the Hardcore title we all wanted, but with a different, more PG, name. The name and design of the belt are hilarious, but the concept is great, and exactly what I hoped for when they announced it on Sunday. I just hope we get some fun videos of the title being won in public places, or at night as we did with the Hardcore title. Can you imagine Lio Rush pinning Braun Strowman on his sleep then giving the title to Lashley? I hope they make this as fun and silly as it should be.

Those are our thoughts on the issue, but where do you stand?
