Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live present WWE Backlash 2018 Spoilers |
Roman Reigns vs. Samoa Joe
As it stands, Reigns and Joe are on separate rosters. There's a chance Reigns goes into this match with the Universal Championship, and/or Joe goes into this with the Intercontinental Championship, despite how the Intercontinental Championship is advertised for a different match, which also is between people on two different brands.
Backlash clearly makes no sense right now and it won't be able to make any sense with this Superstar Shake-up and Greatest Royal Rumble stuff getting in the way.
So here's the scoop: if Reigns is holding the Universal Championship, he clearly retains. If this is just a normal match, then there's a chance Joe is victorious.
PREDICTION: Roman Reigns wins.
Intercontinental Championship Match: Seth Rollins (c) vs. The Miz
Despite the fact that The Miz is on SmackDown and Seth Rollins is on Raw, and unless the United States Championship changes hands between Jinder Mahal and Jeff Hardy and goes back to Raw, demanding the IC title go back to SmackDown with The Miz, and that that doesn't happen at the Greatest Royal Rumble (since that match has two Raw and two SmackDown people in it), and that Samoa Joe doesn't win the IC title and have that while he's fighting Roman Reigns, who could have the Universal Championship......
Point being: WWE didn't think this through. That's a running theme this month.
PREDICTION: Seth Rollins retains, if this match even takes place.
United States Championship Match: Jinder Mahal (c) vs. Randy Orton
I've said it a hundred times now, between the Superstar Shake-up and the Greatest Royal Rumble. This match makes no sense at all, even though they advertised it, because they obviously did not think things through.
At the moment, the United States title is still on SmackDown, but Jeff Hardy holds it, while Jinder Mahal is on Raw. If Orton is still getting his rematch, then he needs to fight Hardy, who needs to retain the title at the Greatest Royal Rumble. If Mahal were to win, then the Intercontinental Championship would need to go over to SmackDown instead of the United States Championship, and this whole thing would be moot, SO....look out for Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton here, instead.
PREDICTION: Jeff Hardy retains.
Raw Women's Championship Match: Nia Jax (c) vs. Alexa Bliss
This is Alexa's rematch from WrestleMania, and I think it's a straightforward loss for her. Nia is too new as the champion to drop the belt and not seem like she's a failure.
PREDICTION: Nia Jax retains.
PREDICTED MATCHES (as of 4/17/2018)
SmackDown Women's Championship Match: Carmella (c) vs. Charlotte Flair
Flair needs her rematch.
PREDICTION: Carmella retains.
More matches will be added to this following the Superstar Shake-Up and Greatest Royal Rumble.
