WWE Payback 2016 Results

Our pre-show panel tonight consists of Renee Young, Booker T, Jerry Lawler and Corey Graves.

Baron Corbin vs. Dolph Ziggler

So this got bumped to the pre-show, eh?

RESULTS: Dolph Ziggler via pinfall (roll-up)
THOUGHTS: Fun enough match for the kickoff, although I'm curious about the ending. It doesn't hurt Corbin much to lose in that fashion, but I still think Corbin probably should have won. We'll see.

United States Championship: Kalisto (c) vs. Ryback

RESULTS: Kalisto via pinfall
THOUGHTS: Annoyed that Ryback didn't destroy Kalisto and win, but the match was entertaining.

WWE Tag Team Championship #1 Contender's Tournament Finals: The Vaudevillains vs. Enzo Amore & Colin Cassady

RESULTS: No contest. Enzo Amore suffered an injury and the match was thrown out.
THOUGHTS: Really hoping this injury isn't too serious.

Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn

RESULTS: Kevin Owens via pinfall (pop-up powerbomb)
THOUGHTS: No surprises at all that this was a good match.

Kevin Owens gets Byron Saxton to come into the ring so he can cut a promo about how he wants to take back the Intercontinental Championship. He then opts to join the commentary table.

Intercontinental Championship: The Miz (c) vs. Cesaro

RESULTS: The Miz via pinfall after distraction
THOUGHTS: Owens on commentary was funny, the way that they've built up to a likely Fatal 4-Way at Extreme Rules makes sense, and I was digging the match, too. Good segment.

Dean Ambrose vs. Chris Jericho

RESULTS: Dean Ambrose via pinfall (Dirty Deeds)
THOUGHTS: Can't hate something like this, right? Entertaining from start to finish and the right man won.

Women's Championship: Charlotte (c) vs. Natalya

RESULTS: Charlotte retains when they try to redo the Montreal Screwjob again.
THOUGHTS: Stupid as fuck. This was so lame on so many levels.

The McMahon Family Promo

RESULTS: Both of them will be running Raw together.
THOUGHTS: Meh.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship: Roman Reigns (c) vs. AJ Styles

RESULTS: AJ Styles via count out.
THOUGHTS: Um...a count out? Really? That better not be the end of this.

Shane McMahon comes out to restart the match. Reigns accidentally low blows Styles and gets disqualified.

RESULTS: AJ Styles via disqualification.
THOUGHTS: So Stephanie will come out to make this a No DQ match, right?

Stephanie comes out and declares this a no disqualification match, as predicted. Keep your eyes open for some interference by Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson.

They do. So do The Usos. It doesn't make much of a difference.

RESULTS: Roman Reigns retains via pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Inevitable lol.

Stay tuned for the post-show podcast for an in-depth review of this event and our thoughts on what transpired!
