Tournament Quarter-Finals

Based off the first-round results and bracket above, we have the following matches set up for round 2 of the tournament:
  • Zack Gibson vs. Gentleman Jack Gallagher
  • Flash Morgan Webster vs. Jordan Devlin
  • Joe Coffey vs. Dave Mastiff
  • Travis Banks vs. Ashton Smith
I have to admit that I'm not super familiar with anybody, as even the people who were around during the last tournament are still people I only know mostly from those few matches. However, I do think there are standouts, and a lot of my prediction is based on just a couple of factors with the bracket.

For instance, I think Gibson beats Gallagher, Webster beats Devlin, Mastiff beats Coffey and Smith beats Banks (but I'm less sure about that one than the others, and, of course, I'm not sure about any of this). I had thought that Williams had a shot until I saw the bracket and Mastiff's size, so with that in mind, I think Mastiff is going to the finals and will face either Gibson or Webster. Between those two, I'm hearing some buzz about Gibson, but I honestly think either one of them will beat Mastiff in the finals with an "overcoming the big guy" story being told.

PREDICTION: Zack Gibson wins.

British Strong Style (Pete Dunne, Trent Seven and Tyler Bate) vs. The Undisputed Era

This is a bonus six-man tag team match which will take place along with the tournament.

PREDICTION: British Strong Style wins.

Fatal 4-Way No. 1 Contender's Match: Isla Dawn vs. Jinny vs. Killer Kelly vs. Toni Storm

The winner of this gets a shot at the NXT Women's Championship. I'm assuming it'll still be Shayna Baszler at this time, so I'm going with Toni Storm as the favorite, since she's already made an appearance in the Mae Young Classic and is probably the biggest name of the bunch.

PREDICTION: Toni Storm wins.

JUNE 19 MATCHES

WWE United Kingdom Championship Match: Pete Dunne (c) vs. Zack Gibson

Since they're launching a new brand, so to speak, I don't think we're going to see the responsibility of holding the main title being thrust on a newer guy like Gibson, whereas Dunne has much more familiarity. However, there's an argument to be made that WWE might want to start things off with a brand new champion, so that might be completely the opposite direction they have in mind.

PREDICTION: Dunne retains the title.

NXT North American Championship Match: Adam Cole (c) vs. Wolfgang

Yeah, there's no way in hell Wolfgang wins this belt. Not a chance.

PREDICTION: Cole retains the title.

NXT Women's Championship Match: Shayna Baszler (c) vs. Toni Storm

Given that there is going to be an NXT UK Women's Championship, and it wouldn't make much sense to have the main women's title be on the UK side of things, nor Baszler to lose yet, I have to go with Storm losing this.

PREDICTION: Baszler retains the title.

NXT Tag Team Championship Match: The Undisputed Era (c) vs. Moustache Mountain

As stated, I don't think we can have a UK set of people win the regular NXT tag titles if there's going to be an NXT UK Tag Team Championship.

PREDICTION: The Undisputed Era retain the titles.

Aleister Black and Ricochet vs. EC3 and The Velveteen Dream

We'll see what happens with TakeOver, but I'm assuming Black retains the title there and he keeps the momentum going with a win alongside Ricochet in this match.

PREDICTION: Black and Ricochet win.
