|WWE NXT TakeOver: Chicago 2017 Spoilers and Predictions|
NXT Championship Match: Bobby Roode (c) vs. Hideo Itami
I have absolutely no faith that Hideo Itami will win the championship, as there are others who stand a better chance (Roderick Strong, Drew McIntyre and Kassius Ohno in particular) but it's good to see him back. Here's hoping he and Roode have a good match, even though I'm not looking forward to it as much as I would rather see some other options.
PREDICTION: Bobby Roode retains.
NXT Women's Championship Fatal 4-Way Match: Asuka (c) vs. Ember Moon vs. Ruby Riot vs. Nikki Cross
Another Fatal 4-Way? Strange. Also, rumor has it Ember Moon was injured in the process of determining the competitors for this match. I was thinking this was an event that would spell the end for Asuka before she comes up to the main roster, but now, I'm not so confident in that. Until the rest of the episodes of NXT air and something changes my mind, my current prediction is going to be that this Moon/Asuka feud drags out just a little bit longer until SummerSlam, with Asuka retaining here by pinning either Nikki Cross or Ruby Riot. The only way I think they'll do something different is if Moon is able to compete, pins Cross or Riot, and Asuka can leave NXT having not actually been pinned, but still dropping the title.
PREDICTION: Asuka retains, unless she's coming up to the main roster, in which case, Ember Moon wins.
NXT Tag Team Championship Ladder Match: The Authors of Pain (c) vs. #DIY
I like both of these teams and the tag team matches have been phenomenal in NXT for a while, so I have no reason not to think I'll enjoy the hell out of this. Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano finally stand a chance at defeating Akam and Rezar with this stipulation, as they can win the belts without having to pin or make them submit. I don't think that is what's going down, but stranger things have happened. I have to assume Heavy Machinery is being built up to be the next in line for a title shot against The Authors of Pain, though, so I'm sticking with them while #DIY might move up to the main roster soon.
PREDICTION: The Authors of Pain retain.
SAnitY vs. Roderick Strong, Kassius Ohno and ???
It seems as though Roderick Strong is still going to feud with SAnitY, and with Kassius Ohno joining him in the fight beforehand, there's a chance we get those two and a partner against Eric Young, Killian Dain and Alexander Wolfe. This is a relative repeat of what we've seen many times before, though, so maybe they don't want to do that and it will just be a singles match. If they do in fact do this, the two main partners I could see joining Ohno and Strong are No Way Jose or the more interesting pick of Aleister Black.
PREDICTION: SAnitY is victorious unless Aleister Black is on the babyface team.
Andrade "Cien" Almas vs. Drew McIntyre
Almas is due for either a rematch against Aleister Black or a match against Drew McIntyre. I'd lean more toward the latter.
PREDICTION: McIntyre beats Almas.
