Here are my predictions for UFC 209. This card is subject to change so come back closer to the time for up to date predictions.
MAIN CARD
WELTERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: Tyron Woodley (c) vs Stephen Thompson (#1)
I loved the first fight these two had and this one should be just as good. It's so difficult to call and I don't really care who win. I think Woodley will defend his title, but I just want another five great rounds.
PREDICTION: Tyron Woodley, decision.
INTERIM LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: Khabib Nurmagomedov (#1) vs Tony Ferguson (#2)
Khabib Nurmagomedov is an animal. 24-0 with 8 wins by each KO, submission and decision. Ferguson is on a good run, but I can't look past Khabib.
PREDICTION: Khabib Nurmagomedov, 2nd round submission.
MIDDLEWEIGHT: Rashad Evans vs Daniel Kelly
This should be a good fight. I'm really looking forward to it and think it should go all the way. I like Evans so I'll say he gets the win.
PREDICTION: Rashad Evans, decision.
LIGHTWEIGHT: Lando Vannata vs David Teymur
I don't know either of these guys very well, but based on their past fights, I'm going to say if it goes to ground Vannata wins, if they stay on their feet Teymur wins.
PREDICTION: Davis Teymur, 2nd round KO.
HEAVYWEIGHT: Alistair Overeem (#3) vs Mark Hunt (#8)
This fight should be higher on the card higher on the card. I like Overeem much more than Hunt and think he's a much better fighter. He has more options to win a fight and I think he'll take it to the ground for an easy win.
PREDICTION: Alistair Overeem, 1st round submission.
PRELIMINARY CARD
HEAVYWEIGHT: Marcin Tybura vs Luis Henrique
This fight was supposed to happen at UFC 208 but got postponed. I think Tybura should get a good win here.
PREDICTION: Marcin Tybura, 1st round KO.
FEATHERWEIGHT: Mirsad Bektic (#13) vs Darren Elkins (#14)
I'm a huge fan of Mirsad Bektic and I think he makes it 12-0 and carries on towards a title shot. Elkins is a good fighter in his own right though
PREDICTION: Mirsad Bektic, 3rd round KO.
BANTAMWEIGHT: Luri Alcantara (#15) vs Luke Sanders
I like Alcantara but Sanders is 11-0. If it goes to the ground Alcantara should win but I'm going to back Sanders.
PREDICTION: Luke Sanders, decision.
HEAVYWEIGHT: Mark Godbeer vs Daniel Spitz
Spitz is 5-0, but I think he takes his first loss here. Godbeer should get an early finish. Plus, he has a great name.
PREDICTION: Mark Godbeer, 1st round KO.
EARLY PRELIMINARY CARD
LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT: Tyson Pedro vs Paul Craig
Both guys are undefeated and have finished all of their fights. It really could go either way but I'll go with the safe bet and the guy who's had more fights.
PREDICTION: Paul Craig, 2nd round submission.
STRAWWEIGHT: Amanda Cooper vs Cynthia Calvillo
The only fight I've seen of either of these two is Cooper's latest win. I'm going to give it to Calvillo because she's 3-0 and I wasn't convinced by Cooper.
PREDICTION: Cynthia Calvillo, 2nd round KO.
BANTAMWEIGHT: Albert Morales vs Andre Soukhamthath
I know nothing about either of these guys, but based on records alone, Morales should get the win.
PREDICTION: Albert Morales, 3rd round submission.
