50% very good, 50% crapshoot.
All of the matches themselves were great, outside of Dreamer/Christian.
Best segment of the whole night was, once again, The Miz. That guy is the best thing going on Raw right now, bar none. He cuts a great promo, lays out Goldust, and the cherry on top, shoots Hornswoggle with a t-shirt cannon! Gotta love it. I hate Hornswoggle so much, and I'm so glad that we didn't have to see the "stupid twitchy Goldust" version (outside of one line) and actually had the normal version. But man...The Miz is awesome.
What bothers me though, is that the WWE overlooked such a simple opportunity that was completely glaring at them. The Miz sits outside the battle royal and is just eliminated like that? Why couldn't he have eliminated John Cena? It would be a cheap method of doing it, so Cena saves value, but Miz can boast like all hell next week that he was the man to throw Cena over the top. You can still have HHH throw Miz over and win it, but at least Miz gets to claim he beat him.
And that brings me to HHH. This fucking guy...I swear to God. Why is he immune to losing anything at all times? Why is it that NOBODY can be booked the way he is booked? EVERYBODY else in the WWE loses matches now and then, but HHH doesn't. And when he does lose a match, GUARANTEED its in a way that makes him look like he should have won it without a shadow of a doubt. Its fucking ridiculous. Why can't he do what's best for the company and just start letting some people score a clean win over him every so often? John Cena does it. Shawn Michaels does it all the time. Undertaker does it. Every single wrestler in the entire WWE does it, except for HHH. For some reason, fans of his still refuse to acknowledge that he gets preferential treatment. He's not special, he's just part of the family in charge. Its pathetic.
CM Punk's first title defense, and he's already back to what he was the last time he had the championship: the underdog who can't win unless someone else wins it for him. I'm not sure why they're booking Punk to be a tweener. He's being cheered against Edge, booed against Hardy, and getting zero reaction by himself because nobody knows if he's good or bad. This is hurting his credibility. If they wanted him to turn heel, they should've made a massive turn and have him get people to really want to boo him. If they want him to remain face, stop having him cheat against faces.
Speaking of faces...the new face of Raw is....Donald Trump? Ugh. I'll admit, I thought they'd go with Flair, and some people would bitch at me saying "you complained that you didn't want Flair, and they gave you someone else, and you're still complaining?" Well yeah, and that's because this choice is even worse. Look at it this way, which I've tentatively dubbed my Hot Dog Theory of situations like this. I'm not a fan of ketchup or mustard at all. If you put it on a hot dog, I won't eat it. You give me a hot dog with ketchup, I'm going to be pissed. But at the same time, if you give me a hot dog with mustard, I'm going to be pissed. Why? Because I don't like either. Its not that I should be happy you gave me a shitty alternative to ketchup, you still gave me shit. So why should I be happy that they didn't give me Flair, when instead, they gave me a WORSE option? Should I smile just because I didn't have the foresight to say "I don't want Flair....or Donald Trump"?
Donald Trump is going to flop. He'll receive boos and within a month's time, everyone will be so incredibly tired of it that we'll revert back to the same old, same old. I mean, we already are back to HHH dominating everybody in handicap situations and feuding with Orton....smells the same to me.
Matches = great. Everything else = shit.
